Task Problem of Domestic Violence Introduction Domestic brutality is a pattern of offensive and threatening conducts that mightincorporate physical, poignant, financial and sexual cruelty. It might also entail intimidation, seclusion and compulsion. Domestic aggression is meant to institute and exercise authority and control over another person. Majority of men frequently practices domestic brutality against their lifetime partners. They might exercise it on their present or previous spouses, girlfriends, or courtship partners. Domestic cruelty is prevalent not only between spouses but also among family members. It could involve parents being violent to their own kids. Perpetrators learn this behavior through watching it happen. Family and community reinforce and worsen the situation. It is neither a disease nor a genetic disorder. Domestic aggression often serves the perpetrator’s purpose. Domestic cruelty gives the executor power against the victim. This paper delves into the divergent opinions concerning the problem of domestic cruelty. It expounds on the effects and possible remedies to the crisis since the problem is still widespread (Kimberly, p.1255-1300). Effects of Domestic Violence The impacts of domestic violence are far-reaching and overwhelming. Women who are mostly the victims of this brutality undergo a multiplicity of medical complications. This might range from depression to persistent pain, and they might also be at an augmented risk of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) or unintended pregnancies. Women who undergo domestic aggression might even be willing to accept a potentially precarious job abroad, exposing them to women trafficking. Depression and continued fear might result in mental disorders. It might also cause use of substance abuse to alleviate the fear of domestic brutality. The victim might also have low self esteem due to lack of self worth. This might consequently lead to the victim’s participation in prostitution. Continued violence might even result in death and family fragmentation. Children born from such families continue with the habit of cruelty towards other kids and people. They become bullies while others develop timid demeanours deteriorating their academic performance and social interaction. These women might be forced to miss work many times because of health problems (Kimberly, p.1255-1300). What has been done? Domestic violence occurs in all races regardless of age, ethnicity, nationality or sexual orientation. There have been numerous efforts towards addressing the crime. For instance, stigmatization of victims has greatly reduced, and assistance is now readily accessible. Law enforcement bodies in different countries have established departments that tackle domestic cases, offer education and prevention measures. Shelters have been established for children suffering from household hostility. Couple therapy services are also prevalent in many communities to tackle domestic brutality cases. Many laws have also been recommending jail terms for perpetrators, but these reprimands are not commensurate to offenses committed or are not stringent enough. There are rehabilitation centres for victims and perpetrators around the world aimed at handling domestic cruelty. However, there is the need to increase treatment centres for victims since most of the sufferers are neglected after experiencing this hostility. There is a belief that jailing the perpetrator is the only solution to domestic brutality (Dohart, p.461-474). There are also centres that are intended to solve the emotional distress associated with domestic hostility. This is where victims are availed the opportunity to communicate their feelings without fear or hindrances. This is done so that the healing process takes place faster. These centres incorporate those affected directly and indirectly for their effectiveness. Churches and educational institutions are among such that offer such services. Domestic Brutality not Exaggerated Domestic brutality is a grievous problem that has attracted divergent opinions and approaches in dealing with the vice. Some individuals presume that domestic cruelty is not a serious thing, while others assert that it is a crisis that needs to be addressed. This is because this vice not only causes bodily injuries; it also brings about emotional distress in the victim’s lifetime. Therefore, the community ought to address domestic cruelty as a grievous issue (Dohart, p.461-474). Even if, the way in which community and legal authorities deal with domestic issues has dramatically changed, domestic brutality continues to ravage society. This is because cases of domestic cruelty continue to escalate and take different forms. For instance, with the emergence of gay societies, many administrative bodies have had challenges in tackling these cases. They have not been adequately prepared to tackle these cases. The impacts of domestic brutality are still evident in society with global statistics showing that, 40-70% of women are murdered by an intimate spouse. It also has major repercussions to children, family members, friends, work colleagues and the society (Palarea, p.103). The intricacies of the recurrent problem of domestic cruelty have continued to utilize policy and legislators. Many governments have tried to address this escalating social crisis through legal measures. The connection between law and social demeanor has frequently posed a complex balancing act for law makers. This is because many social quandaries or trends innately propagate at a rate beyond the capability of efficient receptive legislation. Different, successive administrations have often made gradual transformations to the law relating to solutions available for domestic aggression, thereby generating a disharmonious structure for successful enforcement. This is in itself underscoring the inherent problem of implementing acceptable legislative actions for social crises, which shape, political plans. Moreover, legislations presenting solutions for domestic cruelty are fragmented. This is because even if they have well intended remedial measures by the law makers, there are innumerable underlying surfeit of inconsistencies and loopholes innate within legislations’ applicability (Palarea, p.104). In dealing with domestic brutality cases, when divorce is recommended by the court as a remedy, this does not usually imply that violence stops. This is because the perpetrator might move into another relationship and instigate the same behaviors. In addition, issues of property distribution and taking care of kids is not adequately addressed. In a case where the children are left with the mother, who in most cases is usually the victim, the financial burden might fall solely on one partner. This also happens in a scenario where the perpetrator is jailed. This shows that there are multiple ramifications of domestic violence issues which affect many individuals. Many laws do not have a clear description of ‘associated persons’. This translates into seclusion of relationships where partners do not live together, and there are incidences of violence. This is also exemplified by the shifting dynamics of family associations. This is because they do not cater for gay affiliations. The applicability of laws regarding ‘associated persons’ relies on a myriad of issues including the nature of occupancy, tenure, marital position, which individuals have marital home rights and whether they include kids. As a result, these laws relate selectively with dissimilar treatments with regard to the nature of affiliation. This undermines the rationale of the decree to guarantee safeguard against domestic brutality. Another major defect is immigration legislation. This happens when the victim has insecure immigration position. This comes with cultural and language obstacles where the sufferers cannot ask for support. This consequently, results in violence towards such individuals not addressed. Additionally, the hard economic situation also forces many women to stay in violent associations since they cannot pay for their upkeep expenses. Therefore, the issue continues to be rampant as a consequence of many undocumented cases. In situations where the perpetrator is a renowned person like a government minister or a tycoon, the sufferer does not report the incident to safeguard the reputation of the individual or family. This calls for deep investigations and stringent reprimands by relevant authorities entrusted with tackling such issues. In other cases, the perpetrator is alleged not to be aware of the repercussions for their demeanor. The intricacies lie in establishing the intention behind the act; whether it is intended to inflict terror of aggression or amount to harassment. Moreover, the victim has to keep a series of evidences to build a strong case. This brings difficulty in establishing cases for the victims and hence these actions continue to affect many individuals (Palarea, p.105-115). Conclusion The domestic brutality crisis is not exaggerated. This is evidenced by the innumerable impacts of the vice to the family as a whole. If not addressed, the number of sufferers will continue to rise. More people will continue experiencing severe injuries and deaths. Depression in victims and family members could result in increased cases of suicides and crimes which come as a result of psychological distress. As outlined in the discourse above, further measures need to be enacted to guarantee safeguarding of children and all affected persons in incidences of domestic cruelty. All victims should have access to sufficient financial aids to make possible equal access. In addition, administrative measures need to be reinforced by national domestic brutality strategy of a country. This is to ensure unity between various fragments of laws controlling various situations influenced by domestic brutality in relationships. The administration should also establish sections with strong sets of individuals that can get to into every family facet that experience domestic aggression problems. This would assist the administration in getting information regarding its people, and ultimately assist keep the sufferers away from household hostility and other related issues.
