Decree on the Holy Images 3 roles the Decree establishes for the use of religious images According to the Decree, the religious images should be trusted because they were made. Specifically, the congregation should view the images as holy and capable of delivering benefits as the Gentiles placed their hope in idols. Notably, this is because the images are a representative of Christ and the Saints that we adore. Secondly, the images should be used to teach the stories of mysteries of redemption they represent.

The people should learn the profits and benefits represented through the images that display the miracles performed by the saints and God. Finally, the images are to be used as objects of worship and not to admiration by the illiterate. They should portray the stories and narratives of the Holy Scripture and not a colourful figure for admiration. In that accord, the Bishop should exhibit great care and zeal such that they ensure the images display the holiness of the house of God.Name two aspects of religious images, which should be avoided according to the text.

According to the Holy Decree, on the body has the mandate to the erect or cause to build an unusual image within the church without the approval of the bishop. In addition, the bishop should only authorize such an activity with the consultation with theologians and other pious people who investigate to ensure the image adheres to the truth and holiness. Additionally, the religious images should be not admired or interpreted in unreligious context. Notably, the bishop should ensure that the people have a proper understanding of the models in relation to its religious meaning.
