Background to Bridging Cultures

This application is as well done to the entire transition globally. The one seen to the current regards the intelligence that pertains emotions and the intelligence that concerns cultures. In this regard, researchers have come up with definitions regarding this issue thus suggesting that it is possible to enhance personal as well as individual skills concerning each of these aspects. Since these are just but theories. They are subject to being criticized and challenged in order to come up with the actual evidence that supports the in order to ascertain their value in explaining the context at which they are focusing on. For the past period of time, research entailing cognitive ability has tried and suggested that the IQ of a person depends much on the inherited aspect that entails the genes. In this regard, it is very hard to increase the score for an individual’s IQ. By so saying, these theorists dealing with cultural as well as emotion intelligence reveals that a variety of measured methods can be applied while developing them (Ilan and Higgins 2005).

Cultural Intelligence

CQ is defined as the inert ability that a person gains in order to operate effectively while in an environment characterized by a number of contexts from different cultures. These contexts may include; different nationalities, different ethnic groups around, different organizations as well as different generations that have been passing over a period of time. As outlined in the Cultural Value theory, this is a unique way of an individual to be in a position to approach the past events that have been occurring over time such as the cultural sensitizations, issues that deal with race, as well as the matters of border difference (Ashkanasy, 2007). This, in turn, tries to bring an open to the whole world and make everything possible since people will be in a position to interact with one another by copying what the prevailing culture entails. This brings into account how the personality of a person can be dealt with in the environment considering the above three types of intelligence. A person acquainted with these three kinds of intelligence is able to cope with the environment without straining since the person can effectively shift within the intelligence parameter making him to adjust well and live comfortably (Christopher and Randall, 2004).

According to ANG and Van Dyne CQ-Startegy involves how an individual creates sense by engaging the IC experiences. Besides, the strategy incorpoarates understanding and seeking for cultural comprehension. Moreover, proper checks must be engaged to ensure thee knowlwdege is acquired well (Ang and Van Dyne, 2008).

CQ-Knowldege involves an individual comprehension of dissimilar and resemblance of varying cultrures. It entails mental maps about cultures and expertise in structure of a given culture. It revolves around religious beliefs, language, legal, and economic syestems of a culture (Ang and Van Dyne, 2008).

CO-motivation entails an individual quest in exploring and expiring different culures. It measures the direction and magnitude the resoures or enegy directed towards comprehension of of cross-culture circumsatnces (Ang and Van Dyne, 2008).

CQ-Behavior revolves around an individual adaptability to nonverbal and verbal morals, which is acceptable in varying cultures. It entails flexibility in of moral response that fits in diverse cultural backgrounds (Ang and Van Dyne, 2008).

Recent Definitions and Theories

In cultural awareness theory, cultural intelligence is seen as the way one person can be in a position to know about other cultural practices. In this regard, the person can be having the basic knowledge concerning other cultures, but he/she is not willing to adopt and be part of that particular culture. On other words, the theory of competence in cultures brings out the idea as the ability for a person to have the basic knowledge about other cultures and at the same time, this person is in a position to adopt and suit into that particular culture (Ashkanasy, 2007). This is very critical ensuring a better comprehension of various cultures.

Distinguishing Factors for CQ

Individuals possessing the ability of CQ can change and suit in any business environment since they are not static. This is a factor outlined by the personality and developmental theory. In addition, the intellectual sector for such a person is considered to be high with diverse cultural knowledge, how he/she behaves, and the languages that this person can speak are in order to coat the real language group that this person comes from. The person who is sensitive to issues of CQ is more flexible in adapting into different societies across the globe. CQ is related to performance in school, how a person thinks and is measured by IQ (Ashkanasy, 2007).

Relevance of CQ.

CQ equips a person with the ability to be in a position to change and merge with a different environment without necessarily feeling a strange feeling in the environment. Secondly, CQ makes an employee to be in a position of having a free mind that is not associated with racism, and he/she can be free to work with other races as he/she will easily identify him/herself with the people around (Nakayama, 2007). CQ makes an outline of how intelligent an employee is in dealing with cultural differences that may as a result been brought about in an organization by its employees. This is a key aspect that managers should possess so as to avoid conflicting events and ideas in the organization and companies. It is through cultural intelligence that countries identify and acknowledge multicultural activities in order to promote the continuity of different cultures that are present in that country. The acknowledgment of different cultures makes the transition to occur between the strongest cultures which are adapted by the groups with lesser stronger culture. In the global business market, trending business cultures which attract more investors and general stakeholders are adapted by different countries in order to come up with the similar business operations which win customers in the market (Nakayama, 2007).

Overview of the Current Assessment of CQ

CQ criticized whether it could develop. This is based on the theory of development propounded by Bennett. In this theory, personality traits are assessed which result in the motivation of an employee in an organization. If an organization needs to motivate its employees, then there are a number of things that particular. In order to motivate employees, companies need to offer sustainable salaries to them offer them with motivational trips and accesses on their performance hence promote the qualifying employees to the next level (Nakayama, 2007).

CQ is checked on how it can lead to the adaptation of an individual, across different cultures until the time when that individual adjusts and fit into that context (Matsumoto et al. 2013). In order to achieve this, the personality, intelligence level, and languages that a person speaks play a vital role in unifying these factors together thus bringing forth CQ.

Additionally, CQ is checked on the metrics of adaptation in relation to adjustment. Employee behavior is altered in order to fit into the environment that he/she has changed too. This can be in relation to change in job level either promotion or demotion and on the other hand on matters of a job transfer. By so doing, one has to incur a subjective act associated with the outcome at the adaptation (Matsumato et.al. 2013).

Possibility of the Development of CQ

CQ is a possible task to be impacted on individuals; this can be made possible by promoting all cultures at an equal rate through different cultural practices. Giving equal job opportunities to all members of the society regardless of tribe and race. Promoting education on multicultural practices across an organization and ensuring that there is cultural respect amongst employees. This can be achieved through the provision of education in schools, which open up people’s mind and drive high their IQ. Therefore, education plays a vital role in making a person CQ achievable. Learning creates an atmosphere, which enables CQ development achievable. In this essence, the driving force towards CQ is the IQ (Matsumato et.al. 2013).An individual IQ measures how intelligent one becomes when faced by different challahges. Consequentl, it is important to understand that IQ is a critical facor when developing Cq In this essence, there are factors which are to be put into consideration. These capability factors include; CQ drive, this is guided by an individual’s motivation. A person’s interests as well as his/her confidence in functioning in all the settings. One’s ability to have an ample drive makes him/her cope with challenges which accompany situations that are multicultural. Secondly, CQ cognition makes one to have the knowledge concerning how cultures are seen to be similar as well as different. This does not necessarily mean that one must be an expert in every culture, but to what extent they understand core differences that are within different cultures. It involves comprehension of the adaptability to any given culture. Also, it will engage assimilation of cultures behavours that are either verbal or nonverbal. Therefore, it promotes wholistically culture diversity, which an essential atribute for development of CQ. Thirdly.is the CQ strategy, in this regard, one has to be sensitive on the diverse experiences that are found within cultures. This assists one to make judgments concerning own cultural processes as well as those of others. Lastly, the CQ action that entails the capability that concerns adapting own behavior nicely for diverse cultures. This involves having a repertoire that is flexible to suit different situations.

Limitations to CQ Development-Ethnocentrism

CQ development is faced with a number of challenges. Among them are; Ethnocentrism, denial of other languages, language superiority against other languages, denial towards languages that are universal and bringing about personality and self-constraints (Nakayama, 2007). This hinders the development of diversity within a group of individuals. In this aspect, there will no innovation and as a result no positive change. In this essence such kind of group will remain to be seen as outdated (Johnson et al 2006). Another disadvantage is that the group may come up with a wrong evaluation of other people who are outside the group. This leads to prejudice and group oppression as well as culture oppression (Johnson et al 2006).

Facilitating CQ

In order to facilitate CQ, the idea that brings in ethnocentric nature between individuals should be curtailed through universal cultural promotion practices. Secondly, a cultural identity that identifies other people more than others should be nullified by linking everyone to the global culture. Finally, it is important to come up with one language in business that may unify all individuals thus promote CQ (Matsumato et.al. 2013).

Personal Developments and Perception Change Towards Cultural Situations

I realized that CQ is the way people in our community show the capability of mixing together with others and cooperate to perform a number of different cultural activities without difficulties. In this manner, I understood that the issues of cultural differences arise as a result of lack of understanding towards other cultures. In this manner, I suggest that a gap between different cultures should be closed by cultural education which will help individuals in relating to other cultures. I came to realize that the interaction between people from different cultures is unified by coming up with a universal culture which may make all these people to be equal to one another this made me ready to adopt to a unified culture that brings every one of us together (Neuliep, 2009).

Results of Personal Intelligence

CQ to me is an inert drive that makes a person considers other cultures with a great magnitude as his/her own culture. If an individual is in a position to take other cultures as his/her own culture, then all cultures will gunner equal cultural heritage. Cultural heritage to me is the firm ground that all cultures should be acknowledged on (Kerry, 1994).

Strengths

CQ makes me acknowledge other people’s cultures. In addition, it has made me be more eager to continue learning and understanding other people's cultures and finally it has motivated me to learn more on how the measure of IQ determines CQ (Matsumato et.al. 2013).

Weaknesses

I came to understand that learning and embracing other people’s culture fully is not an easy task. In this regard, I suggest that a universal culture that nearly relates to other cultures in an environment to be emulated and be taught to other people. Secondly, the resources demanded cultural education are costly therefore people should volunteer to educate others about their cultures in order to ease cultural interaction and mix (Brook, 2004).

Personal Value and Its Impact

This course has gained me self-esteem since I have learned that culture is what defines me. And therefore, I must respect my culture as well as other people’s culture (Matsumato et.al. 2013).

Strategies to Cultural Development

I will use this strategy to accomplish the following goals; to ensure that culture is respected, to make sure that multi-culture is enhanced through the promotion of communal spread where a member will teach another member and finally to come up with a uni-culture that represents us all (Samovar et al 2013).

Planning

Collecting funds from donors that will be used to promote intercultural activities in a cultural event that I will organize (William, 2010).

Awareness

I will come up with a cultural awareness campaign that will notify people of the importance of culture through roadshows (Matsumato et.al. 2013).

Checking

I will organize with the assistance of the government to come up with one culture that will be used to define all of us and make it spread all over our country (Richard et.al. 2010).
