Question Question: Describe the career that you would like to pursue after earning a graduate degree. Address issues such as whether you are entering the business world for the first time, changing fields, or advancing in a field or organization where you expect to remain. Why have you chosen his particular career Throughout my life, I've been possessed with a desire to strive for greatness, to excel at whatever activity or task is placed before me. Not until this past year, when I started participating in the real workforce, did I realize how passionate I am about what it is that I want to do with the rest of my professional life-investment trading.

After earning my graduate degree at Bentley College, I would love nothing more than to find myself on the trading floor for an investment company. I have always been driven by a desire to be the best at everything I do and to commit myself wholeheartedly to the task at hand, whatever it may be. Through the experiences of my life, I have realized that the road to greatness is both paved as well as traveled by those who are willing to work harder than the competition. This philosophy rings true in education, business, and life.

During high school I worked and studied for countless hours to earn a 3.7 GPA, knowing that I would need it in order to gain acceptance to a prestigious college, the Isenberg School of Management at University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Once in college at UMass, I carried this work ethic with me, earning a 3.6 GPA. In addition to scoring high grades, I pledged into the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity, becoming chapter treasurer; took leadership positions in a number of university student organizations, such as acting as treasurer of the Commuter Area Government; and participated in internships for four different organizations.

I was awarded Sophomore Fraternity Member of the Year by UMass for excellence in academics, Greek life, and school organizations. Though I am proud of the honors I have received for my work, they are not the source of my passion. It was not until I began my time in the actual workforce that I truly began to realize what my true passions were. In college, I was fascinated by both the corporate and investment sides of the world of finance. During those years, I was able to acquire a corporate finance job with Liberty Mutual, which was to begin in the month of July following my graduation.

However, I graduated in December. During this time gap I refused to remain idle, taking an investment job for a hedge fund group with Investor's Bank until the time came when I could begin my program with Liberty Mutual. When I began working for Liberty Mutual, a light went on in of my head. I realized just how much I had thoroughly enjoyed my days of evaluating investment funds at Investor's Bank. Six months with Liberty Mutual was all it took for me to realize that I was truly passionate about investment evaluation.

I left Liberty Mutual and returned to Investor's Bank, going back to work for my old hedge fund group. With my graduate degree from Bentley College, I plan to work my way to the trading floor at an investment company. Having realized that my passion is in investments, I must learn the "ins and outs" of the industry. I believe that I'm made for a job on a trading floor, and that this will open up possibilities for what I want to learn. I wish to acquire an effective working knowledge of the market.

I believe the best way to learn the market is to be center stage, straight into the fray and right in the middle of all the action. I love the adrenaline rush that I get from the high-intensity lifestyle offered by a career in investments. I want to be part of the fast-paced action of a trading floor.
