 Activities for Stress Management and Prevention Activity 1.2 Stress is not the same for everybody because to some people it acts as a source of motivation while to others it causesemotional distress[Jef11]. Stress only brings about illness when it starts causing difficulties in concentration, disturbances in sleep and emotional distress. Stress is only bad for you when it causes emotional distress but if it is a source of motivation it is not bad. Stress is everywhere but you can think of ways to cope up with it. It depends on one`s perception of the stressor if it is a source of motivation to the individual it does not bring about physiological arousal or emotional anxiety[Jef11]. In case the individual decides to cope up with stress they may not display the symptoms of stress. Any category of stress can cause damage to your health as long as it makes one to experience difficulties in concentration, disturbances in sleep and emotional distress. Stress management classes are meant to equip learners with necessary skills on how to cope and manage stress[Jef11]. Activity1.3 I experience loss of appetite, difficulties in sleeping and I also have imaginations of the worst outcomes[Jef11]. I feel stress in my brain whereI am unable to think in the right manner and most of my thoughts are inclined to the stressor and how to overcome the feeling of stress. I always base my thoughts on how to manage the crisis and cope up with the situation The feeling of lawlessness in terms of self-esteem I also feel discouraged. When confronted with stress I always want to be left alone and I rarely interact with my friends. I always want to have time to think of how to handle the situation[Jef11]. Activity1.4 Stressors in my life Coping strategies Ranking 1.Death of a loved one Through the social support of my friends and family and trying to regulate on the emotional responses 3it is a manageable situation and majorly affects one emotionally. 2.Personal relationships where a dispute arises between me and a different party By getting time to talk about the dispute at hand and giving solutions on how to solve it. 4 it is a very manageable situation if both parties are ready to listen to one another and solve their issues. 3.Poor academic performance By seeking advice from a teacher in order to get motivation that will act as a drive towards better performance 5 it is the most effective way of handing stress related to academic performance. 4.Disrespect to the elderly in most instances my parents By going back to retract your actions and abusive statements to earn forgiveness from them 5 it brings about asense of relief and reconciles both parties. 5.Displinary issues in school that may bring about a suspension By going to the person concerned with disciplinary matters in school and retracting your actions 3 it is effective it the outcome is positive which happens in most case. Activity2.2 Effects of sympathetic and parasympathetic systems on selected organs Effector Sympathetic system Parasympathetic system Pupils of eye Bring about a dilation effect Brings about a constriction effect Sweat glands Triggers copious sweating Digestive glands Inhibits secretory Triggers secretory activity Heart It brings about vasodilation It causes vasoconstriction Bronchi of lungs Muscles of digestive system It decreases muscle activity It increases muscle activity Kidneys It causes vasoconstriction Urinary bladder It cases a relaxing effect on the bladder muscles It brings about contraction of bladder muscles Liver Triggers release of glucose to blood Adrenal medulla Triggers medulla cells to secrete epinephrine and norephrine into the blood Blood vessels to skeletal muscles skin respiratory system Digestive organs It cases constriction of bloodvessels it also causes breakdown of fat and brings about vasoconstriction in the digestive organs Causes an increase in secretion by digestive organs Activity 3.1 My first interview was with Mr. Fredrick aged 46 and I found out his stressors are mostly inclined on financial grounds and work, whenever he experiences big losses in his businesses it causes stress to him, his challenges in his business include fluctuation of prices of his goods there by making him to experience losses another challenge is that he deals with mostly perishable goods and if not bought in time they might go to waste he mentioned some of his friends in the same field who provide social support their by boosting his esteem through the challenges My second interview was with Mrs. Grace aged 68 and from the interview I realized that her source of stress is defendant on her health she is suffering from cancer and as a result she experiences body feeling fluctuations she faces various challenges like she cannot go and help her husband in their garden and since both of them retired they also lack financial stability but through non-governmental organization support they are able to overcome their stressors. In my past life I have encountered various stressors and they include loss of a loved one which impacted on me emotionally, in my academic life I have experienced stress in grounds of performance and discipline and but through coping up with the situations and seeking guidance from various parties I have been able to overcome stress.in future I might experience stress associated with work and financial stress in this case basing on my research consulting various individuals who have encountered such is the best way to get motivation to move on even if the situation is averse I will still resort to consultation as the best solution. Activity 3.2 Breaking up with my girlfriend, getting in trouble and having arguments with my teachers andparents, having arguments with my siblings are the challenges I faced. Breaking up with my girlfriend and arguing with my teachers and parents makes me shiver By practicing the problem solving technique and engaging in activities that distract my brains from stress like games[Jef11]. Activity 3.3 My greatest stressor will be attaining financial security since I will have a family to cater for and there will be more needs I am preparing for that by ensuring I make use of the opportunities I have now to get a good job[Jef11]. Activity 3.4 I decided to respect the elderly like my parents and siblings and taking more time to listen to them[Jef11]. I decided to never let a dispute go unsolved since it stresses me up and destroys the relationship I have with my friends. I made a decision to eat healthy foods and do exercises to reduce chances of getting lifestyle diseases that may cause health related stress.
