The paper 'Behavioral Changes Reinforcement on Children in Saudi Arabia' is a marvelous example of a research paper on psychology.
The educational policies and regulations in Saudi Arabia consider the subject of behavioral development in children as a demand which is civilized and which it plans to address through continually developing the regulations and policies in the educational system. This nature of educational development is expected to be at per with other developments associated with human activities. The policy of education in Saudi Arabia operates on the basis of a principle that considers social and religious constants (Corey, 2009). The strategies that have been adopted by Saudi Arabia to enlighten teachers and parents with regard to the way of ensuring behavioral development have been integrated within others such as the eradication of literacy and widespread education.

The issue of behavioral changes among children in Saudi Arabia and stated with introducing statutory education which then later developed into one of the main objectives. This was made to be the case following several activities in the civil society institutions and education departments in Saudi Arabia that have been put in place with the aim of striving to realize child behavior change introduction and development. Parents at home and teachers in a school play a key role in the change and development of the behaviors that are acquired by children in the course of their growing up (Daniels, 2005).

Problem statement

There are emerging issues regarding punitive parenting as a way of introducing and reinforcing behavioral changes both at home and in schools. It is thought that punitive parenting could be associated with child abuse and therefore there is a need to determine the best methods in behavioral change development and enlightening the parents and teachers concerning those methods.

Research Questions

  • What are the challenges encountered by both teachers and parents in reinforcing behavioral changes in children both at home and in school?
  • Why do you think it is important to reinforce behavior changes both at home and in school?
  • Do you think that punitive parenting is appropriate in reinforcing behavior change both at home and in school?

Literature Review

The broad subject of enlightening parents and teachers within Saudi Arabia regarding the reinforcement of the change in behavior both at home and in schools for children has raised a lot of concerns for the last couple of years (Graziano, 2009). However, there have been several research studies that have tried to unravel the relationship between parental care and the guidance offered in schools by teachers on one side and behavior change reinforcement in children on the other side. It is, therefore, necessary to carry out research studies with the aims of determining appropriate ways and techniques that can get adopted in offering guidance to teachers and parents. Studies have demonstrated that in order to impose changes on children with regard to their behavior development, it is important to make identification of the behavior features that are undesired while at the same time defining the behavior features that are desirable that should actually replace the undesired ones (Thomas, 2008).

It is believed that intense reinforcement of the practice of new behavior contributes positively to the whole idea of behavior change. It is noted that there are key distinctions that have been made the behavior change management and other motives as well as duties that are performed by parents and teachers (Aylward, 2003). Parents and also teachers administer punishments for reasons which include making the establishment of their authority, to enable the children to distinguish between right and wrong as well as to satisfy the justice demand. It has, however, been found these reasons for administering punishments that are adopted and applied by parents and teachers have got very little to do with the behavior change (Bray and Ryan, 2006).

Previous research studies have indicated that the act of administering punishment alone without the reinforcement of behavior change has not been able to achieve much. The bad and undesired forms or features of behaviors that are harbored by children have a higher probability of vanishing on their own than they would do when subjected to elimination by punishment (Chesebrough, 2004). The most fundamental process of behavior change and behavior development in children is very much dependent on the attitude held by parents towards the ways that are appropriately suited for such enforcement. Within the societal setting, the children are expected to gradually acquire the behavioral change standards which play a major role in facilitating key responsibilities and skills that help bring about the reinforcement of behavioral changes (Browning and Stover, 2009).

Research methodology

In this particular research study, the methodology that is to be employed is expected to recruit samples from six schools and six homes in the Republic of Saudi Arabia. Every school selected will offer ten children whereas every home selected will offer one child. The children selected in the samples are expected to be the ones aged between five and ten years of age. The teachers and parents are expected to be interviewed alongside the children under their care (Kazdin, 2005). That is expected to be employed in dealing with a collection of information from the schools and homes will involve seeking approval from the directors and parents in charge while explaining to them the aim of the study so as to facilitate data and information collection process. There will also be the use of a self-descriptive questionnaire which will assist in seeking information through the asking of the research questions that are involved. Once the information required for this study will have been gathered all will be subjected to analysis and evaluation through the application of qualitative techniques of data analysis (Mckay and Storch, 2009).

Conclusion

In conclusion, the research study is a key step in addressing the issues that are surrounding parenting, punishment and behavior development in children.  The findings from this research study are very useful in the determination and establishment of the factors that need to be taken into consideration when it comes to enlightening the parents and teachers on appropriate behavioral development strategies.
