Timmons hotel group carbon-neutral strategic plan, is to reduce its emissions, while also having a partnership with EcoAct to ensure it remains committed staying “carbon neutral”. Terms Hotel Group is owned by their parent company Algonquin Ltd. which is an investment and hotel group company based in Belgium. Algonquin manages and invests pension funds by purchasing the property that hotels are operating on, only to rent the property out to hotel brands such as Mercure (from the Accor group), under a management contract agreement.

However, Algonquin is able to market Mercure Les Bossons as a part of the Terms as well as the Mercure brand as part of their agreement. Algonquin has over 29 hotels in its portfolio based across 3 different countries (Poland, France, United Kingdom). Until 2014, Temmos hotels consisted of 6 hotels based across the Alps. 3 in Chamonix (Les Aiglons, Le Morgane, Mercure Bossons), 1 in Val d’Isere (l’Aigle des Neige), 1 in Les Menuires (Les Bruyeres), 1 in Les Arcs (Le Golf). However, at the start of the year, l’Aigle des Neiges was sold to a consortium and is no longer part of the Temmos brand, or the Algonquin company.

Furthermore, every one of these hotels is rated with four-star, other than Les Arcs which is classified as a three-star hotel. Therefore, the study shall focus on the 4-star hotels, who is approximately the same size going from 89 rooms (Les Bruyeres) to 107 rooms (Les Aiglons). The word innovation has caused a great deal of confusion when trying to define the word precisely, what it entails, and what are its characteristics (P.Gyuracz-Nemeth, et al, 2013) (See Table 1). Furthermore, there is frequent confusion between the word innovation and invention often both words are used as synonyms to one another and get mixed up causing further confusion (P.

Gyuracz-Nemeth, et al., 2013).
