The Invitro Effect of Sildenafil Citrate on the Outcome of Pregnancy in Mice and Offspring Student’s Name: Student ID Number: Course Title Code: PhD Embryology. Date: Infertility is the inability of a woman to conceive a baby after a year of progress unprotected sex (Zegers-Hochschild et al, 2009)…

Introduction

Other medications that can be put to use to make infertile women conceive a baby includes the controlled ovarian stimulation, intrauterine insemination (IUI), and ovulation induction. Although the use of ART can result to a successful pregnancy, not all women who undergo ART can become pregnant. Infertility may occur in all types of species; whether human or animals. This chapter tries to investigate the expression of PDE5 in the pre-implantation embryos and the effect of sildenafil citrate (Viagra) on pre-implantation murine embryo development in vitro. Sildenafil is a special drug with a nitric oxide effects on vascular smooth muscles. Randomly selected mice were divided into two groups. One group was hyper stimulated group whereas the other was hyper stimulated plus sildenafil citrate group. The mice were injected with human menopausal gonadotropin (HMG), and later they received human chorionic gonadotropic (HCG) hormones. Afterwards, two female mice were put in one cage with one male mouse for mating process (Rashidi, Rad, Roshangar, & Mira, 2012). ...

Influenza Vaccine during Pregnancy
As a result of this, pregnant women are provided with monovalent H1N1 vaccine, irrespective of preceding influenza infection, in order to provide the fetus with the passive immunity. However, this precautionary step is found to influence fetal development and growth resulting in reduced gestational age and augmentation in birth weight (Stinhoff et al, 2012). Although recommended, there is no…
The effect of sildenafil on embryo development in vivo in mice
To increase the success rate of IVF, the clinical and laboratory procedures were enhanced in order to reduce the risk of side-effects on the part of thepatients (Gupta and Agarwa, 2010). Despite the effort to improve the use of IVF, Diedrich et al. (2007) revealed that successful pregnancy rates remain low. The common problems encountered with the use of the IVF procedure includes: (1) inadequate…
the effect of Sildenafil (viagra) on antral follicle development in sheep
The endocrine, paracrine, and autocrine factors regulate the proliferation of granulosa cells, in which case the follicles then become gonadotrophin dependent, and their granulosa and theca cells will continue to proliferate and differentiate until ovulation. The formation of the fluid-filled antrum acts as the selective barrier, which enables the accumulation of substance within the follicular…

However, the in vivo effects on the development of oocyte would have been examined by injecting sildenafil on female mice for a period of four days with the following…
Mice oxygen consumption rate
Warm-blooded animals maintain thermal homeostasis via internal metabolic processes; hence, endotherms can remain active over a broad range of ambient temperature (Stanier 79). # 2 Define metabolic rate Metabolic rate refers to the amount of energy utilized in a set period. Metabolic rate represents the pace at which energy can be utilized by an organism and encompasses the integration of all…
Affect on weight gain and sugar water on Mice
Overweight and obesity are interrelated terms for many health complications. Children and adolescents also fall under this category. Many health complications such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, hypertension, breast, colon and prostate cancers and depression are associated with the obesity and overweight. Obesity is caused due to the imbalance in the energy homeostasis. Many factors such as…
