In order to complete this particular project, certain significant aspects of project plan would be taken into concern and widely analyzed. Moreover, the other factors comprise definition, sequencing of activities along with estimation of the required resources, development of a Human Resource (HR) plan and identification of the criteria for success/ failure of the project. Project Charter Project Title: Project Management: Recycled Blackberry Phones This project has been taken into concern for the purpose of designing an appropriate project management plan for recycled Blackberry phones. For making this project successful, various strategies that have been adopted by the company in the past will be deeply analyzed upon. As a project manager, future plans of actions will be decided based on the past strategies adopted and executed by the company. Also, the potential shareholders who can provide variable amount of contribution in the recycling process will also be identified. As a project manager, it will be one of the primary duties to create a well diversified SMART project scope which can be effectively utilized in the overall recycling process of Blackberry phones. The project will also include a well diversified plan concerning the sequence of activities in a step-by-step process that will be implemented in a timely and orderly manner. In addition, written documents concerning the exact amount of resources that will be required for the execution of the project will be maintained. Moreover, another plan concerning HR will be developed along with the broad criterion that will be adopted for identification the success or the failure of the project (BlackBerry, 2013; Cleland & Ireland, 2006; Verizon Wireless, 2013). Stakeholders The stakeholders in this recycling process will include different entities that will directly or indirectly get affected by the project especially in an affirmative manner. These entities may include the employees of Blackberry, suppliers and distributors of raw materials along with finished goods. In addition, certain other stakeholders like the creditors of the company along with the customers whose role are considered to be important in determining the overall profitability of an organization would be taken into concern. Being the project manager, it is quite needed to ensure that various outsourced agencies which can deliver effectual ideas pertaining to the launch of new applications and programs in Blackberry phones are also needed to be included in the list of the potential stakeholders. Specially mentioning, the above identified stakeholders would play an imperative part in developing the overall project management planning procedure and most importantly enhancing the decision-making procedure by a considerable level. It is expected that the roles which play by the recognized stakeholders would eventually standardize the ongoing viability of the project by a greater extent (Groman, 2007). Project Management Plan This portion of the project management plan would hold the top most priority in successful completion of the project concerning recycled Blackberry phones (Hossenlopp, 2010). In order to execute the plan in an orderly and appropriate manner, a few of the most fitting actions will be undertaken that would provide greater aid in quick start of the project (Hossenlopp, 2010). These actions have been elaborated hereunder. Collecting and arranging all reports relating to the availability of manpower along with the resources that will be required for smooth execution of the project Making a brief framework about the immediate tasks concerning the procurement of additional resources and other necessary equipments for the recycling process Making suitable amount of improvements in relation to the available facilities in the plant in a timely basis Provisions pertaining to the basic requirements concerning proper electricity backup, machinery equipments and technical assistance among others will be ensured Ensuring proper infrastructural support so that the work process do not get disrupted Completion of the major works processes required for smoothly completion the initial stage of the project Reviewing the current technical issues Making proper adjustments in relation to the issues Creation of strong associations with diverse channel partners, so that any sort of disruption in the work process is not met and Providing suitable amount of training backed with proper motivational strategies to the employees for developing operational procedure (Hossenlopp, 2010; BlackBerry, 2013; Harris, 2009). It can be affirmed from a broader outlook that the above discussed action steps would eventually aid in smoothly along with effectively conducting the project by a considerable level. Organization Structure Work Structure Gantt Chart Scope In the context of project management, SMART generally stands for specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time-bound. All these terms broadly specify those business methodologies that can be effectively utilized and thereby implemented to gain topmost business results (Harris, 2009; Roberts, 2012). With regard to the recycling process of Blackberry, specific procedures will be followed that will reflect upon smooth functioning of the operational process. Secondly, the planning process will be followed in such a way so that all the activities relating to improvement will be tracked and measured in an appropriate manner. Being the project manager, all the broad activities of the planning process will be discharged in a well diversified manner and all the benefits that will be derived from conducting the activities will be attained. Thus, the whole of the process will reflect relevancy and it is estimated to be completed in around 6 months (Roberts, 2012). Estimating Resources For the completion of this project in a resourceful and a well organized manner, there would lay the requirement of effectively utilizing the valuable accessible resources such as manpower and adoption along with execution of pioneering technological advancements among others. Relating to one of the valuable resources i.e. manpower, an estimated figure of nearly 200 employees will be required for performing individual and group functions efficiently. Employees will be provided with different roles that will primarily encompass plant space maintenance, scientific functions relating to testing of chemicals along with recycling tools and proper functioning of machineries among others. The procedure concerning free flow of communication would eventually help in controlling along with coordinating the project effectively In order to ensure successful implementation of the plan; project leadership requirements will comprise the broad aspects of integrity and a better communication system (Blackberry, 2013). Develop Human Resource Plan Being the project manager, there are numerous responsibilities that are needed to be undertaken for smooth completion of the project. Amongst these responsibilities, proper planning in relation to HR can be regarded as one of the major accountabilities which needed to fulfill effectively for smoothly completing the assigned project. The plan concerning HR would generally start with performing certain basic functions i.e. identifying individual talents of the employees and engaging them in their specialized field of work. It can be affirmed that through this way, an appropriate process of staffing will be ensured that will result in timely completion of the project with greater efficiency. In addition, there will be certain rules along with regulations that are needed to be followed for making functional flow of activities. In this regard, rules and regulations pertaining to the detailed duties of the employees of each of the department will be fixed and based upon their skills; they will be assigned with dissimilar tasks. It can be predicted that this staffing management plan will be favorable to all the employees as it is going to be planned as per the areas in which the employees are highly skilled and proficient. All these activities will broadly constitute in the development of an appropriate HR plan which will prove to be quite helpful in effectively and timely completing the project (Schmidt, 2009; Telefonica UK Limited, 2013). However, anticipating that all the above discussed aspects may generate complexities or challenges, the project rules along with the responsibilities, required skills of the workforce and the plan of staffing management need to be managed and organized in an effective manner (Schmidt, 2009). Close Project In relation to the project management plan discussed above, it can be expected that the project might be completed in stipulated time period resulting in attaining greater success. It is worth mentioning that there are certain important aspects which would eventually aid in identifying the success or failure of this project. In this similar concern, greater improvement in the products, increased level of better services along with quality of the products, timely execution of services and enhancement in the operational processes among others can be regarded as the criterion determining the success of the project. Conversely, there may also emerge certain adverse situations in which the expected results cannot be accomplished which would eventually lead towards the failure of the project. Certain critical aspects like the profitability of the company may not increase up to the desired level or having not so much improvement in the recycling procedure may come under the criteria of failure of the project (Resch, 2011; Schmidt, 2009).
