?Assignment Career Research Report Table of Contents Introduction 3 Section 3 Occupational Research 3 Section 2 4 Main Findings 4 Section 3 8 Conclusion 8 Section 4 9 References 9 Section 5 11 Appendix 11 Introduction The report has been prepared to focus on various scopes and areas where I can work after my studies, in respect to the knowledge along with the skills acquired by me. The paper will cover the key skills, knowledge and experiences that are expected by a graduate student. I am a student of BA (Hons) degree acquiring knowledge of business and administration at present. Thus, I am making a future plan regarding the areas where I can settle my career after the completion of my studies. The report will hereby contain detailed information about a particular field, wherein I can focus to develop my career in accordance with my acquired knowledge and skills. Section 1 Occupational Research The research is based on the opportunities of a graduate student acquiring the knowledge of business and administration. This research has been conducted with the assistance of primary along with secondary sources. For carrying on the research study relating to the profession of an assistant team leader, first of all the employment news and the websites of the companies providing job opportunities have been followed. It can be viewed that the unemployment rate in the United Kingdom remained much stable at 7.70% from July 2013 till August 2013. This statistical data represents the number of people looking for a job in the UK (Trading Economics, 2013). The current data of the employment rate will provide an opportunity for applying to various companies, wherein desired jobs can be obtained. During the conduct of the research concerning employment scope for the graduates, it can be apparently viewed that the Careers and Employability Centre has been providing various counselling sessions about the process of direct job hunting (McBride, 2013). In this regard, Carolyn McBride, one of the famous career advisors of the UK is involved in arranging various workshops and presentations in order to identify the employability opportunities as per acquired skills along with knowledge. The workshops provided the individuals with an opportunity to develop their respective skills along with knowledge in a more interactive way. Moreover, various career prospective related programs especially for the graduate students have been made available such as retail managers, public relations and sales managers among others. These programs advise the participants, seeking for jobs to follow the websites relating to job search (McBride, 2013). Section 2 Main Findings From the study of the aforesaid research, it can be affirmed that there are ample chances for the graduate students to work within a company as an assistant team leader. The study of business administration offers an all round study along with delivers ample opportunities of building brighter career (London School of Business & Finance, 2013). In the UK, there are many people who seek for jobs after the completion of their studies. Also, there has been a growing trend of the recruitment of the graduates possessing ample knowledge in the field of business and administration. It can be stated that the team leaders are there to look after various significant aspects within a particular organisation such as guiding, monitoring along with motivating other employees and also committing offering better services to the customers. The team leaders can be assigned with several responsibilities like financial, handling complaints of both the staffs and the customers, assisting other organisational members in terms of training and education, proper completion of the paper works and timely reporting every detail to the senior level management among others (Totaljobs Group Ltd, 2013). For the successful conduct of these activities, usually, the companies hire the graduate students with sufficient knowledge of business and administration. Basically, the graduate students of business administration are hired by the companies in terms of conducting campus interviews. Almost, all the organisations engage the team leaders to look after their respective internal along with the external affairs. As observed in the earlier description that the team leaders are engaged in performing overall works of an organisation. Usually, big or large scale multinational organisations recruit the graduate students relating to the field of business administration by a considerable extent (Association of Higher Education Careers Services, 2012). These organisations hire the graduate students in the form of effective team leaders possessing relevant knowledge and experiences, so as to generate an efficient along with an integrated work environment and provide greater support to other members. The job roles of the graduates typically depend on their gathered experiences. It is quite obvious that the experienced graduates would be placed in such positions, wherein enough responsibility of the organisations is fulfilled. Specially mentioning, the job roles of an assistant team leader are managing the entire team and delivering active support towards the attainment of individual along with organisational objectives (Prince’s Trust, 2013). The advertisements regarding the job of an assistant team leader are usually published in newspapers, various job sites and making written notices in the office premises. The selected advertisement (Refer to Appendix) concerning the job description for the graduate students is of a development management team leader. This advertisement has been published by a London authority for recruiting personnel for 3 months and to be extended later. The suitable candidate for the position would be assigned with the tasks of looking after the smooth run of the development management team, taking the responsibility of making effective planning and supporting the overall development of the organisations. The company is looking for the candidate within any age group and ready to join as early as possible with an hourly rate of ?29-?34 (Evenbase Recruitment Ltd, 2013). In the modern scenario, it has been viewed that experience is equally important along with qualification for a suitable employment opportunity. The graduate students are often given the priority or the preference, as they possess greater knowledge of managerial roles along with duties. The management graduates are trained in such a way that they can perform the activities of a better manager effectively (Clemson University, 2013). In order to determine about how graduates are selected within the profession of an assistant team leader, it can be viewed that initially, companies prepare a job analysis to observe whether the candidates meet the actual qualification and criteria or not as mentioned for the position. There lay certain aspects that are reviewed for the selection of suitable candidates. These aspects comprise required qualification, skills, knowledge along with experiences and personal qualities among others. Then, a few of the organisations arrange for a written examination in order to review the required knowledge of the candidates in accordance with the particular position offered. If a candidate is able to qualify the written examination, he/she will be forwarded towards the personal interview. The result of the examination and the interview together will determine the selection of the candidate. The interviewer determines the competency of the candidate by taking into concern the results of the written examination and the interview process (Department of the Economic Development, Tourism and Arts, 2012). It is the Human Resource (HR) manager of any company, who needs ample knowledge about the aspect of recruitment along with selection and must possess adequate knowledge or method of interviewing the suitable candidates for the offered job position (CIPD, 2010). Section 3 Conclusion Based on the above discussion, a detailed study about various aspects of employment scope of graduate students has been drawn. A graduate student will have enough scope of employment in his/her respective field, if he/she possess requisite amount of competencies, experiences along with qualifications. The recruitment along with the selection process of an assistant team leader is quite crucial as the growth of the company depends on the performance of these leaders. It can be apparently observed that the larger or the bigger scale organisations basically recruit skilled and knowledgeable graduates for their overall development.
