Augmenting the Effects of Illegal Charter Flights in Aviation in the Middle East - Dissertation Example

Grey markets have been in operation since antiquity. The lure of saving money entices most people to use services from grey market operators in more than one field. Grey market operations are as applicable to goods markets as to services markets especially with the rapid growth of the services industries in the last century. One of the better-kept secrets of grey markets is the effect of illegal flights in the charter flights aviation market. Like some of the other services industries, the charter flight aviation industry, especially for business services, has been channeled into grey market operations. The problem is well regulated in the North American and Western European markets but the rapid expansion in the Middle East business aviation category means that grey market operations are high and unregulated. Numerous different problems are exacerbating the situation in the Middle East in connection to grey market charter flights. Some reasons have to do with the political climate of the Middle East while others have to do with the infant character of the Middle East charter aviation industry. This work plans to look into the problems of grey market operations for the charter aviation industry in the Middle East.
The problem of grey market operations in the Middle East charter aviation industry is not well documented at this stage. This is partially attributable to the infant nature of the charter aviation industry in the Middle East. By comparison, the charter aviation industry in Europe and North America is well documented along with its problems stemming from grey market operations. The lack of credible documentation presents a large problem for this thesis since literature is scarce and immature as yet concerning the Middle Eastern market. To support the current research, literature reviews will be based in large part on well-documented and published materials from the European and North American charter aviation industries. Trends discerned from the literature review will be superimposed onto the situation in the Middle East to find fitting interpretations.
It must be related that the current research is not intended to present a wholesome picture of the intended phenomenon. Instead, this research is intended as one of the first efforts to describe this emerging problem to find a fitting and sustainable solution. Since the amount of material being analyzed in this research is beginning to take shape, so this research cannot be taken as the final word on this issue.
