The management of the resort has however foreseen challenges in terms of threats and weaknesses that they may face in establishing and running the record. Various considerations have been made and hence ways of dealing with such challenges will be devised. This will be effective in ensuring that the resort operates at the optimum level and making the maximum possible profits. INTRODUCTION Hospitality management is a sector which has existed since time immemorial and has since then grown greatly. All countries the world over rely greatly on their hospitality sector for their economic growth and so does the United Kingdom. The hospitality management sectors like the Food Management and Operations, entertainment management, tourism, hotel management, event management and lodging operations have also been instrumental in providing job opportunities both locally and internationally and this to a great extent has contributed to the growth of economies and hence improved standards of living. Because of this realization, the family which owns the land in which the Thames River cuts across wishes to establish a holiday centre which will be able to serve tourists and visitors from all over the land. The establishment which is to cover the whole 150 acre piece of land will accommodate a variety of structures including car park facilities for the staff and the visitors, hotels, swimming pools, fishing activities, business centre etc. The establishment of a camping Caravan Park will be appropriate for travellers and camp groups who frequently visit the Thames River and all the tourist attraction centres within the region. Individuals of all ages will be catered for within the planned establishment. This means that students and other social societies will be our common visitors. However, all the facilities will be constructed with the varying ages of people in mind and hence it will be open to all individuals within the society. Different outlets will be constructed in line with the needs of the different age groups so that individuals of all ages can have the opportunity of visiting the holiday centre. The funding of the project is to be sourced from a bank loan which the family has already applied for. Some surplus finances will be obtained from the vast savings of the family and income generated from the family businesses. . Name of the Holiday Centre Plain View Holiday Resort FACILITIES Restaurant, pub, club, fast and foods A total of eight restaurants will be established. Two at the south end of the field, three at the centre, one at the north eastern section and two at the western edge of the hotel. These positions will be convenient for management sake as they will all be accessible to the main management office which is to be located at the centre of the field. The fast foods will also be constructed at the locations where the restaurant is located so as to ensure easy access by the visiting clients. The bars and clubs will be established at the northern end corner of the field. This will be so as to guard against the disturbance of families who will need a peaceful stay or those with children and also far away from the river as intoxicated individuals may be at risk of drowning in the river. Entertainment equipment and facilities For the purpose of entertainment, the clubs will be provided with a variety of musicals which will serve the needs of the categories of clients. Training sessions will also be available for children who are interested in learning how to use the entertainment gadgets. All the hotel rooms will also be served with one television set, a music system and a laptop computer with internet access capabilities. Because children will also visit the centre, electronic toys and gadgets like play stations will be provided in rooms where children are booked. Apartments For individuals with large families willing to stay within the centre for a long period of time, apartments will be made available. A total of 45 apartments will be constructed at the eastern corner of the field. Each of them will be equipped with necessary household equipment and a swimming pool. A car and chauffer will also be provided for the whole period the family stays within the apartments. SERVICES Catering The hotel is going to offer catering services for visitors within the hotel and also provide outside catering for the customers who do not reside within. This will be effective in capturing customers who stay within the river Thames neighbourhood. Outside catering services will also be provided to those visitors involved in camping activities. They will be provided with a number of attendants depending on their number. These attendants will provide services to them while they are out of the hotel establishment. Events management Events organization and management is also an activity that the hotel is going to venture into. Because of the frequency of events within the city of Cirencester and the strategic position of the holiday resort, coupled with the diverse services and facilities that it is to offer, Plainview resort centre will have access to a wide variety of customers on a frequent basis. Sports activities There will be sporting facilities to cater for all the ages and sexes. The holiday resort will provide fields and facilities for both indoors and outdoors sporting activities and they will include bowling, snooker and pool, swimming pools, hockey and tennis courts. The indoor games will be played at specified rooms within the hotels. The outdoor games will be played at the centres' sports ground which will be situated almost at the centre of the field for easy access by all the residents of the resort. The centre will also provide extra sporting facilities for hire by those not residing within the hotels. Sporting equipments like tennis balls and hockey sticks will be hired at a fee to the outside community. Tour guide The area around the Thames river has many facilities which will act as tourist attraction sceneries. The tour guides are going to involve the customers and especially those who come as tourists on a tour venture within and outside the establishment. The tour guides will also help ensure comfort and security for the clients who go through the tours. Gym and instructors Customer wellbeing and physical fitness is an issue that the Plainview holiday resort is not going to take for granted. With the increasing need for physical exercises, the resort is going to establish gyms within each and every hotel so as to allow all the customers to access the gyms at the hotels which they have booked. In addition to this, fitness instructors are going to be employed so as to guide clients through their exercise sessions. Car park Because of the ability of many of our customers to travel by car and considering the short distance from the city, the whole basement of the main hotel building will be reserved for parking. This is also going to be fitted with security alarms which will ensure that no vehicle is left at risk. Some of the hotel attendants will be assigned the duty of receiving the visitors and taking their cars to the parking area. On departure, the cars will be released by these attendants and handed over to the owners. Boat ride This service will be provided to individuals of all ages who will wish to have a first hand experience of boat ride along the river Thames. Our well trained boat riders will take our visitors to the areas of the river which they would like to explore while keeping a close security to ensure their comfort and safety. Camping facilities For caravans, students on tour and other social groups travelling across the river Thames and in need of camping facilities, the hotel management is going to put resources in place for the purpose of camping. Such resources will include tents, sleeping bags, lamps and other necessities. This service will be available for those camping at an area of 2km radius from the resort CAPITAL Sources of capital Amount (pounds) Bank loan 196,649,090 Family business 80,400, 890 savings 17,900,000 Total income 294,949,980 DIRECT COSTS Facility Description/number Total cost (Pounds) Apartments, restaurants, pubs and clubs(building materials) 45 apartments, 8 restaurants, pubs and clubs 89,000,000 Sports facilities Playing grounds, facilities and equipment for bowling , playing snooker and pool, swimming pools, tennis and extra ones for hire 67,780,000 Entertainment equipment Computers, music systems, play stations (for young children) 34,500,000 Staff Managers, waiters, chefs, counter service staff, shop assistants, kitchen assistants, bar staff, cleaners and room attendants, cooks, sports/gym instructors, security and maintenance staff, administrative workers and life guards receptionists. 104,00000 (for the first three months) Total cost (Pounds) 292,280,000 INDIRECT COSTS Expense Amount Construction workers 658,000 Legal requirements 424,980 Miscellaneous costs 987,000 Total amount(Pounds) 2,069,980 Total overall cost(Pounds) 294,949,980 MARKETING In marketing the establishment, a conclusive research has been done and a number of considerations made on how to handle the matter. Considering that there are a number of well established hospitality establishments within the area, Plainview management has decided to capitalize their marketing on the unique facilities that other resorts do not offer. The fact that the holiday centre will also offer a wide variety of services also means that the centre will make the best one stop holiday facility and this we believe is going to be a very powerful weapon in marketing the establishment. The most effective method of advertising that we are going to use is the television as all individuals and of all ages is able to access the television especially in this modern age. The internet is also gong to be largely applied for advertising as this will enable even the international community to get information on the existence of this facility together with the services that it is able to offer. The print media will also be used to a certain extent for advertisement. The fact that we will deal with most modern hotel facilities will also be important in marketing the facility and ensuring that the business not only serves but also grows. The facilities like the internet are going to aid the centre market itself. INTERRELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN HOSPITALITY AND TRAVEL AND TOURISM ORGANIZATIONS The travel and tourism industry are incorporated within the hospitality industry and can therefore be regarded as one. The hospitality industry is involved with various operations which include, accommodation, food services and entertainment among others and ha s been at the forefront of providing services or tourists and travellers around the world. Both industries depend on each other and have in the past and in the recent times provided employment opportunities and a great deal of business and leisure opportunities the whole world through. The establishment of the proposed hospitality centre in this farm will definitely be of benefits to the travellers and the tourists who will require the appropriate services. LEVEL OF INTEGRATION IN THE HOSPITALTY INDUSTRY The hospitality industry has in recent times been integrated with other functionalities due to the increasing and changing needs of clients in this industry. The level of integration is such that, there is great use of technologies which has helped in enhancing service provision within these industries. Majorly, information technology capabilities have been incorporated in the industries and this has to a large extent changed its face. Service provision which have been enhanced I the hospitality industry include front office, human resource and internal controls. It is advisable that in the establishment of this resort, information technology capabilities are given great consideration as it will help largely with improving communications and hence business operations. PROJECT PARTNERS AND THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES This project proposal was prepared the project committee which comprised of the following member; Project Partner Responsibility Mr. peter Clifford projects chair Mrs. Michael Edwards project Secretary Ms. Linda brown Treasurer Ms. Roxanne Andrew Organizer Mr. Gerald seems Organizer Mr. Phillip long Organizer Ms, Miriam ShinesStaff, HR Dep't Organizer SWOT ANALYSIS The SWOT analysis that has been done with regard to the establishment of the holiday resort came up with the following results. Strengths The area has unique sceneries which will be effective in enhancing tourists' visits within the area. Source of funding for the project is available. Weaknesses Sourcing professional staff in hospitality management is a very complicated venture. Opportunities The increasing number of tourists in the area will provide market for the resort. The unique and wide range of services to be provided will give the resort an edge over their immediate competitor who offers very limited services. The availability of similar centres like the four pillar hotel within the area will also work in our advantage by providing for customers who need a change of environment. Threats The availability of other holiday centres who have already established their customer base will make the task of gaining entry into this market complicated. Hotels like silver fleet, enterprise and the central park hotel posses as a threat to the survival of the resort. CONCLUSION Plainview resort centre is a proposed establishment that is surely going to change the face of hospitality and tourism industry in the United Kingdom. The availability of modern resources established with some traditional touch will help in fulfilling the tourists' need for both culture and entertainment. The resort which is to serve the wider classes and ages of people within and without the United Kingdom is expected to be a great force in enhancing tourism in London and also in providing revenue for the government. The project is expected to cost the family an awesome amount of investment in terms of finances, time and effort but the returns that are expected are going to make this venture worth. Various challenges have also been predicted and hence preventive measures put in place. The resort is also expected to be a source of pride for the residents around the Thames river for besides contributing to the economy of the united kingdom, it is going to be a source of employment for most of the jobless residents and hence a tool for improving their living standards.
