As an Inside Account Manager for a major personal computer manufacturer, managing major accounts is second nature. Although I work in the public sector inside sales organization, my customer base is the United States Federal Government. The responsibilities of this position include relationship management and account growth from day to day. My duties include developing contact strategy, while maintaining current contacts. In my position, I work with an individual Field Sales Account Manager.

The Field Sales Account Manager and I handle opportunities that range from fifty thousand to three million American dollars in revenue. For deals worth more than three million dollars, I work with a team in order to come up with proposals and pricing strategies. All of the opportunities that I handle are highly competitive. My company is in the commodity business. This means that prices are the deciding factor whether we achieve deals or lose them. The role I play in the company is vital.

When I bid on an opportunity, finding the right price is crucial to winning business. It is important to find the line between a low enough price to win business and a price high enough to make a profit. Personal accountability in this field is the only way to achieve positive results. It is imperative to remember while going after new business, that one must also retain current customers. The competitive personal computer market needs employees that inspire customer loyalty. This makes retaining customers a top priority for me.

It is my goal to generate good relations with new customers, while maintaining the same constructive relationship with current customers. This aspiration sometimes can be tedious, but I work hard to accomplish this objective.A long term intention is to use my sales and marketing experience to pursue a career in product management. While I am comfortable with numbers, working with product management would be more fulfilling. In order to complete this goal, I will need further education. I plan on completing my first year of business school, then transfer to marketing.

Hopefully, by acquiring experience in branding and product development, I can be better prepared for a marketing career. After obtaining my MBA, I would use my newly attained knowledge acquire a management role in production. Upon receiving my MBA, I hope to achieve the position of marketing manager. This would allow me to realize my true potential. I would work across functions and countries to develop strategies, establish and validate market requirements, manage product offerings, and interface with vendors.

In addition, I could ensure product leadership, innovation, and offering acceptance in the marketplace. The accomplishment of receiving my MBA will allow the fruition of a long-term dream. The career I currently have has peaked. Education is the only way to expand my career options. Upon receiving my MBA, I will be more financially successful, with the ability to travel globally. I have a good job, but want more. Why stay at my endless job for years, when I know I have the potential to reach a higher level' I am determined not to stay stagnate.

My goals of becoming a marketing manager will become a reality with a MBA.
