However, it is important to note that leadership has many sides of actual practice. For instance, leadership can encompass both transformational and transactional aspects, but the common denominator is that leadership is evident in both. In this respect, the approach to Mary’s case could take diverse approaches depending on the practice in play. Transformational leadership is more oriented towards servant-hood, while transactional leadership is result-oriented (Kuckartz, 2010).

Jessica needs to understand the leadership practices Mary stands for, and most importantly her leadership style. On the same note, Mary needs to understand what it takes to be an effective, efficient, and successful leader.Response to KenishaJessica’s qualification is not in question having secured a position to head the department. Her personal and professional competitiveness is expected to guide her in managing her department. To some extent, this expectation can explain Mary’s reaction.

However, this is not justifiable. The organizational workforce needs to engage in collaborative efforts with everybody on board to enhance the realization of organizational goals and objectives (DuBrin, 2013). The best approach to the Mary-Jessica issue is democratic style of leadership. This style allows senior officers, junior officers, and employees to engage in decision making and problem resolution processes, but the final say rests with head of the collaborating group. On the same note, a streamlined approach to communication, interaction, and relations is vital.
