Below is a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) of a project I undertook to organize for a system adoption by a community bank so as to make their records automated.

Example WBS: Project Name – Upgrade of automated system in a community bank

LEVEL 1.0 Project Management and quality control.

1.1 Conduct meetings and reviews with management.

1.1.1 Budget on travel and accommodation for the contractor and their consultancy fees.

1.1.2 Contingency plans.
Skills required include management skills.
LEVEL 1.2 Hardware and Software acquisition.
1.2.1 Prepare specifications of the Hardware and Software needed.
1.2.2 Conduct Demos of software needed and site visits to verify specifications.
1.2.3 Hardware and Software purchase
Resources needed here include the Hardware and Software specifications document to be used to showcase what exactly the supplies needed to perform the upgrade. Skills required include Information technology skills.

LEVEL 1.3 Hardware and software installation
1.3.1 Prepare the site for installation of the network, Hardware and Software purchased.
1.3.2 Conduct acceptance tests of Software purchased.
Resources needed include the Hardware and Software equipment itself. Skills required include Information technology skills.
LEVEL 1.4 Application cutover
1.4.1 Prepare application migration and data backup
1.4.2 Prepare system test plan
1.4.3 Conduct system cutover and test plan.
Resources needed include the test plan and the cutover stages document to explain each phase of the upgrade. Skills required include Information technology skills.
Level 1.5 Customer support

1.5.1 Conduct training and acceptance criteria.
1.5.2 Revise on methodology to solve issues undergone.
Resources needed include the use of training manuals about the system. Skills required include Information technology skills.
Level one would need a contingency plan. A contingency plan is used when the business or organization wants to reduce the risks that may be incurred with the outcome of a new venture or new events than usual and also a contingency plan is used for the purpose of preparing for quantifiable crises.
