A manager or any other figure like a CEO leads some organizations, government agencies, and personal business groups. Any organizational success cannot be just be realized by depending on the available resources and strategies that have been put in place. The vision and mission of any organization cannot materialize effectively without the support and daily input of a leadership force that comes from a manager. Success and productivity is also reliant upon the present management team. The management team, led by a manager helps to harness, support, and offer direction to what is to be done within and outside the organization. The manager does the role of directing individuals to engage in driving the vision, mission, and maintaining the core values of the organization so that it tries succeeds in a competitive market (SIMS 2002, p. 65). Role of the manager Managers participate in a critical role of delivering performance within an organization. A consistent delivery of performance is what dictates the level of performance of a manager. A manager is like a father in a family. He appears to be the breadwinner. He takes less credit now of great success but an entire blame in the case of underperformance in an organization. This means that the work of a manager ranges between performance and underperformance. The manager is the leader of the teams within an organization. Any performance level is dictated by the strategies put forth by an organization, and the ultimate decisions and pathways of meeting these strategies as set by manager. Therefore, the manager is the carrier of every managerial role that is supposed to be realized within an organization. The manager is the sole head when deliberating on the goals and objectives of an organization. Through an effective management of an organization, the manager will be able to relay the best approaches and mechanisms of performance to be adopted by the individual workers in an organization. The manager takes the role of identifying how the individual workers and groups contribute towards fulfillment of the goals and objectives set by an organization. The organizational values are an observance of the manger in charge of an organization. Management involves almost every aspect of living within an organization, and is taken care of by the manager in charge. An organization has its own values and value systems that dictate the nature and code of living, working, and interaction within an organization. The guidance that is given by the manager is related to the nature of what is supposed to be done in order to fulfill the level of performance and management within an organization. The integration of people, integration of ideas and plans, performance and measurement of output, fulfillment of the organizational objectives and goals, together with the performance and development of the individual workers, is always the function of the manager who coordinates these activities amongst other arms of management within an organization. An organization is difficult to exist and perform without the influence of a top leadership. The top leadership helps to bring out the concept of togetherness and group work in order to meet the specific needs of the organization. Therefore, the manager is the sole leader who comes out in order to establish and keep the principles of togetherness and performance within an organization. Through an effective performance management within an organization, the manager is able to measure the level of performance together with the individual and group performances among workers. The manager is able to establish equitable links between the organization, the workers, and the facilities available for production. The strategic business objectives that are found within an organization, and the day-to-day activities promoted by the workers, are all coordinated by a strong force of unity that comes from the management team. Nothing happens without its cause. An effective and efficient organizational and team performance, coupled with effective goal-setting procedures, and progression measurements, all contribute to a greater performance from an organization. Optimum performance can only be realized through equitable production hailed by good management, through a good manager. Effective and practical management processes can only be realized when managers take probable steps towards bringing out the best among the workers in an organization. The workers, through an objective leadership of the manager, bring about optimum performance. The management team The management team in any organization carries out a number of activities that serve to bring out the best among the workers in an organization. Some of these activities include: The manager has the role of aligning and strategizing on what is supposed to be done by each of the employees. The day-to-day activities of an organization are directed at having the best options of work that are related to the business objectives of that organization. The manager serves to provide clarification and accountability that is related to the expectations of the organization as regard the nature of performance. Accountability is a consequential aspect that provides the level of commitment and determination put forth by the managerial team of an organization. Through provision of accountability consent to the workers, a manager is able to eliminate aspects of negligence among the employees. Employees are known to neglect their duties some times. Nonetheless, with a proper demonstration by the manager, the entire management team will be able to bring out the best of services and products within an organization. Managers instill managerial capabilities among the workers by documenting the performance of every employee in order to provide equitable compensation approaches and even plan for the career and other necessary avenues that will assist the workers to work within the required levels of performance within an organization. Managers help to establish focus that will help workers to better their skill and learning activities that work towards improving the performance of an organization. Skills are necessary for equitable growth and development of an organization. Diversity is only realized through implementation of new skills and modes of working within an organization. In order to meet the ever-rising needs and demands of the customers and the organization, managers serve to increase chances and opportunities for workers to work within their new skills and capabilities. Managers serve the purpose of creating avenues where legal documents are established and implemented in order to support the decisions made by an organization, and help to reduce issues and conflicts within the business. Legal precepts and guidelines are a necessity in every organization. There is no better way through which an organization can survive without the protection of the legal documentations. Workers within an organization have rights. These rights are protected by the legal documentations that are established by the organization through its ranks of management. Human resource management requires the services and protection of the legal requirements. Moreover, the decisions that are made by an organization can only be protected through the help of the legal documents. Decisions are designed to improve the performance of the organization, and at the same time protect the interests of the workers within an organization. Therefore, the legal requirements are a necessity within every organization. Issues and conflicts often arise within organizations. It is the duty of the manager within an organization, to provide avenues through which disputes and conflicts among workers, employees, and any other figure within an organization, are solved without affecting the interests of the organization. There is no better way through which conflicts can be solved within an organization without laying firm foundation of the legal structures and guidelines. The management team works towards ensuring that there are reasonable avenues of legal pathways through which an organization is able to support its decisions and protect the interests of the organization and the humanitarian resources. Any organization is able to benefit from the managerial roles that are a preserve of many managers in a business. These managerial roles help to support the organization in various ways. For instance, these managerial practices help in job satisfaction, engagement of the employees, and retention of the same employees within an organization. Therefore, the manager of an organization works directly and indirectly in managing the level at which an organization is established and run by the trusted employees. Specific performance management activities The managers do several performance management activities in order to meet the specific needs of the organization. Some of these recommended practices include: Enabling individuals within an organization to access constructive and clear feedback from the organization on what they are doing Being the defining bodies that define and relay objectives and clear performance strategies and standards of work among learners Defining types of incentives and relaying to the respective employees in order for them to implement and put them under equitable scrutiny. Providing necessary development and learning opportunities so that employees are able to access basic and informed skills to better their performances Appreciating the performances of the groups and individuals within different departments of the organization. Such recognition comes with equitable management and rewarding of hard work and improvement, while finding ways to alter poor performances in order to better the level of productivity within an organization. Proving links that put together performances, hard work, compensation, and strategy observance within the organization. Hard work and increased or improved performance should always be appreciated by any figure of management within an organization. Managers work towards trying to better the performances of every employee within the organization. Such strategies put by an organization help to improve on the level of performance together with trying to lift the nature of performance of any employee. Director role Managers work as directors within an organization. Management is a multifaceted activity that links almost every organ that makes the system of an organization. Not one individual within an organization is able to better the level of performance of that organization. Performance and improvement requires the services of many of the members. Such corporation relays better performance, unity, and improved levels of performance through teamwork. Performance management is a strategic activity that requires immense planning and implementation of the right decisions by the management team. Performance management concerns exemplification of broader issues touching on business goals that are long-term and short-term. Performance management requires integration of the right frameworks that serve to better the levels of performance of the organization at hand. Management is concern with connecting different aspects among people, resources, teamwork, and performances of the individual people. There is no way, in which people can be made to deal with the right aspects of production in an organization, without having to know how to deal with different arms that make up the system of an organization or business. Therefore, managers have a sole duty to defend the roles of an organization without having to fail on their respective approaches and decisions taken to meet the required needs of production and sustainability. General categories An effective manager summarizes his or her managerial performance in three categories as follows Performance improvement Improvement is not an easy task in every organization. To make an improvement requires the efforts and determination of the people involved, without forgetting the need to establish a true mechanism of maintaining improved performance. Performance improvement entails aspects of supporting workers or employees within an organization. Supporting employees enables them to work within their levels of performance without limiting on the requirements or expectations that they are able to meet. It makes work easier when workers are given enough resources, motivational support, and time to explore their skills and capabilities while working for an organization. Performance improvement is the work of the managerial sector of any organization. Building teams to offer necessary steps of growth and development is part of the steps taken to improvement performance within an organization. Organizational effectiveness is the work of any organization. In order to better the level of performance of any organization, effectiveness serves to prove that there are possible chances or avenues that can be used to provide steps towards growth and development. Improvement does not happen in a single day. It takes time marred by strategies, steps, decisions, and implementation of the right avenues of performance. Organizational effectiveness symbolizes readiness to better the nature of performance in any organization. Managers as take to be true leaders who take the interests of the organization at heart. Development Development is an essential feature in every organization. Development refers to the process in which an organization grows in stature, performance, resources, facilities, and in the market. Business production and marketing helps to dictate the levels of performance and development of any organization in the world. The level of development that Coca-Cola company has achieved cannot be compared to that or a small organization or business. The level of management within a developed business organization can also not be compared with that of a small business organization. Time is one of the essential factors that help to explain how growth and development has happened within an organization. Managers have the sole role of supporting the continuous processes of development and growth of any organization. The development of the organization starts with the growth and development of the individual people working within such organizations. Therefore, it is very important that an organization manager is able to hold the hands of the employees and lift them to greater avenues of performance so that the development of the organization becomes visible. Teams have to be supported within an organization in order to achieve the corporal role of working as a union. In every organization, it becomes an important factor to master the needs of establishing a relative avenue where all the employees are able to work under one goal, objective, and leadership. This remains to be the sole role of the manager or the managerial team in every organization. Development helps to improve the general growth and development of any organization in the business sectors. Managing behavior Managers have the sole role of keeping in terms with the behavior of the workers within an organization (DAFT 2012, p. 4). Organizational behavior reflects the behavior of every worker within an organization. In order to achieve the objective of managing or having a good employee behavior within an organization, there is need to master all the workers, have an intrinsic understanding of their capabilities, and hence introduce a platform where they will be able to have a great feeling of responsiveness, concern, and understanding. The managers ensure that employees and customers are supported at all times so that they will be able to have a positive attitude towards the organization. An organization cannot exist and survive within the support of the individual members. The managers therefore, have the responsibility of relaying the best mechanisms of performance that ensure stability, unity, and corporation within an organization (LUSSIER 2008, p. 65-89). Better working relationships can only be established when the leadership of the organization provides a good atmosphere. There is no such aspect where employees and able to cultivate good working relationships without having support from the management of the organization. The management paves way for the employees to engage, interact, and influence one another towards corporation, value-production, and goal-oriented activities that better the overall performance of the organization (BELASEN 2000, p. 67). Managers are able to offer equitable management by engaging performance management as a tool for ensuring teamwork, corporation, and equitable leadership within an organization. In order to support the prospects of performance management within an organization, managers can employ a number of strategies as follows: Ensuring that employees are able to ascertain their capabilities through examination of their knowledge and skills needed to perform different tasks within an organization. Managers should be able to know what the employees need, and be able to understand them individually and as a group Managers should be able to ensure employees are able to receive the support they need in order to access the basic avenues of performance within an organization. Managers should be able to ensure that employees or people within an organization are able to access feedback and opportunities to assess and talk about their performances. Forums should be introduced where workers are able to exchange their views and hence live within the right steps of growth and development. Managers should ensure that the people working within an organization are encouraged to share ideas and expertise so that they can be able to work as a unit and hence meet all the needs and requirements needed of the organization. Management does not entail provision of the right objectives, legal requirements, and co values alone. It also entails giving opportunities to workers so that they can be able to exchange their views, discuss important aspects of production, and hence be able to work as a team trying to achieve the goals of the organization. Considerations for effective performance management by managers Managers work towards establishing and building a culture through which individuals and teams take opportunity to develop their own skills behavior, and general performance Managers enable individuals and teams to cooperate in contributing to a continuum of growth and development of the business processes and performance within an organization Managers enable communication and clarification of the expectations that arise from the management to the employees, and vice versa Managers ensure that there are reasonable and functional relationships between workers and workers, managers and employees, and teams and individuals within and outside the organization. Such activities bring about unity and ultimate success within an organization. Managers work collectively and collaboratively with the employees and other managers in order to strive towards achievement of the goals and aims now and in the future Managers serve the purpose of defining and planning the organization. here, managers comprehend teams, individuals, develop skills that benefit all these sets of people, develop capabilities for individuals, organizations and teams, together with establish and deliver organizational objectives, strategies, and plans (COHEN et, al 2008, p. 342). Conclusion The roles of the manager can further be divided into three main categories: Interpersonal roles Managers are human like any other employee. They have their own personal needs. It is only that apart from working for the needs of the organization, they should also be able to work towards achieving their own needs in life. They have their interpersonal needs, most of which are related to those of all of the employees within that particular organization. The manager lives as the figurehead of the organization. He or she is the liaison and a good example to be shown to the organization. Every employee looks up to the manager during all times: troublesome and good times. Such responsibilities that are affixed in the life of a manager are critical towards meeting the required needs of the organization. For instance, when a manager lives in accordance to the status of a manager, and provides the other employees the required facilities, support, and time, he or she will be assured of a hundred percent of corporation, something that might translate to a hundred percent production within the organization (SIMS 2002, p. 59). Informative The manager should be a source of information to the organization. Sensitivity and alertness are some of the specifications that should be assumed by a manager in order to foster equitable management within an organization. Managers should be able to give feedbacks from the organization to the employees so that they are able to live within the managerial expectations of the organization. Dissemination Managers are known to call meetings over which issues are resolved and announcements made. Proper management entails coming together under one leadership, exploring on the issues affecting or helping the organization, and striking agreements in ways to better performance within an organization.
