Professional Development Plan Professional Development Plan GOAL ACHIEVE MORE EFFICIENT TIME MANAGEMENT Statement of the goal Time management is the practice of planning and controlling the provided amount of time to ensure efficient productivity (Forsyth, 2013). In the business field, time has a direct effect on the success of the business. It is the main objective since it involves creating time to come up with the other intentions. The goal will include exercising management of the period of pursuing the doctorate. Time will be the most vital factor during the study given that learning institution have preplanned sessions with specified time frames. Motivation towards goal achievement and its relation to personal values There are various motivational factors that have led to the choice of time management in the professional development plan. Different determinants have contributed to my improvement of time management skills (Forsyth, 2013). Being in a time controlled facility is one of the motivating factors. Classes are allocated precise time frames where one has to comprehend all that is planned for by the lecturer. Additionally, consultation hours by the lecturers are set during specific sessions when he/she is available. Without a proper timetable, one can easily miss the lecturers appointments leading to deterioration of performances in the subject. The attained skills will also help in both academic and business fields. My undergraduate has been an eye opener providing knowledge on the importance of time management. Firstly, it will help me meet other personal set goals. A suitable timetable will help me make time for all my goals presenting them with appropriate periods to ensure equity. Personally, it will also enhance my self-confidence by reducing time related stresses. Most of these stresses include late presentation of assignments and attendance of classes. It will also provide me with more free time that I can use in research or work. Time management lets an individual to venture in productive activities while learning. It also assists resource control and monitoring. Steps to accomplish the goal Planning – one has to make a plan that caters for all the activities that need to be accomplished (Forsyth, 2013). It will help me help me identify and separate school work from other activities that may come up during free time. Planning will aid in the setting of personal ambitions that will contribute to my studies. Assessing – it will review how I am currently using my time hence exposes areas that need changes or improvement. Assessing also provides information of the current trends such as school timetables. I have to set my timetable depending on constant schedules. Prioritizing – leads to allocation of time wisely depending on the importance and urgency of an activity. After assessing the class timetable, I will have the knowledge to set my plan based on priorities. For example, assignments will get first priorities to prevent lateness. Making a schedule – it will disclose my plan based on the available time. Following the schedule will prevent time wastage and also help in the achievement of personal goals. Coming up with a short-term to-do list will strategically help in time management in short periods such as daily assignments. Personal strengths and weaknesses relevant to the goal as reflected by the steps The steps will reflect my weaknesses that include lack of assessing and prioritizing leading to making irrational decisions. They will assist me in handling personal goals that are mostly available during free time. Since I have expertise in planning, the other three steps will help in analyzing of the planned work. GOAL 2: BE MORE ORGANIZED WITH YOUR DAILY GOALS Statement of the goal This objective is measurable in the manner that its progress and completion can be monitored. Daily goals are part of the larger development plan since time is managed from the basis. Organization of these goals will help me attain my overall development plan through coming up with larger objectives. This goal is also timed and realistic. I can set deadlines depending on various daily determinants that affect the realization of the goals. The goal is specific and attainable by using more organized plans. Motivation towards goal achievement and its relation to personal values The main motivation aspect to having organized daily goals is to increase the probability of achieving more objectives. Organizing will lead to time management that will increase the free time. This action will also help me gain businesses administered skills. Time creation will result to solving more problems and accomplishing extra goals. It also serves as a principle of time management hence it will lead to allocation of goals strategically. Personally, this goal will help me engage in my weaknesses such as supervision of my free time. Focusing on my daily goals will help me manage my activities that include attending lectures and carry out research in groups. These main daily goals include gaining more knowledge, completing assignment, carrying out co-curricular activities among others. Organizing these goals will ensure self-reliance and restraining from social ills such as drug abuse. The organized time schedule ensures that I utilize leisure time carrying out productive activities. Steps to accomplish the goal Identifying the daily goals – The objectives may adjust due to determinants such as time of day, day of the week and the school schedule. This factor will lead to constant changes on the daily goals to ensure they suit daily activities. Make a plan – planning will issue the goals specific periods depending on priority. The plan should include classification of the objectives based on the urgency and importance. Persistence will and time management will help in the planning process. Monitoring – Since they are daily objectives, their success can be monitored daily, weekly or monthly. However, daily monitoring is recommended because it will help me adjust and have a new plan for the following day. Personal strengths and weaknesses relevant to the goal as reflected by the steps The steps are personally friendly because I can use strengths such as perseverance and determination to ensure that the daily objectives have been achieved. Additionally, I have attained organization skills in my undergraduate course. I will personally monitor the organization of my goals through factors such as academic performance. GOAL 3: TAKE ON MORE MANAGING RESPONSIBILITIES Statement of the goal Management of responsibilities has both personal and public advantages. However, the management has to start from personal supervision of responsibilities. The goal is attainable and realistic since it is part of business competitive strategies. For example, managers have to gain their skills from personal experiences. Motivation towards goal achievement and its relation to personal values Management of responsibilities will help me to derive management skills that are useful in future cases. While managing responsibilities, one is bound to make independent rational decisions (Lussier, 2012). Personally, I can manage most of my personal responsibilities. It has helped me enhance my business skills through risk taking and making of decisions. Interpersonal roles can be shared through managing of responsibilities where individuals can brainstorm and share ideas. Achievement of this goal will help me gain social skills due to interactions with other students. Steps to accomplish the goal Identification – One has to recognize the responsibilities that have to be managed to set up various strategies (Lussier, 2012). It happens both in personal life and business oriented situations. I will differentiate different roles that require various responsibilities to be monitored. Class responsibilities are different from other personal needs hence require unique approach styles. Planning – it reveals the policies used in the management process. Managing class work is one of the main inspiration factors that will lead to management of other complicated circumstances in the business field. Organizing – it will ensure specialization of various roles hence making it easy for the responsibility procedure. Time management will be ensured because it is part of individual responsibilities. Personal strengths and weaknesses relevant to the goal as reflected by the steps Personal responsibilities require close monitoring to guarantee an all rounded person. I have various responsibilities that are bound to increase due to the advancement in education.
