COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY IN BUSINESS In the modern age when technological innovations are no more a surprise for the society, businesses continue to invest greatly in Information and Communication Technology, adopting changes to the customers needs, producing and supplying with the latest products, thus increasing their capacity to compete with the others. The following paper will focus on the way communication technologies work in business and will establish the disadvantages and advantages of the communication technologies use in business. In his article, Agbesi has assessed how Information and Communication Technology acquirement should be managed by businesses in order to increase the service innovation practices and how these innovations improve the competitive ability of the certain organization, in particular, the Unique Trust Bank. While it is determined that the adoption of the Information and Communication Technology benefits any business, there is no clear understanding of the relationship between the adoption of Technology and new innovation within UT Bank. In order to help managers to realize the service technology adoption within a bank, a random sampling technique was utilized to manage fifty questionnaires rom the UT Bank. Such questionnaire was the special tool for collecting data to retrieve information from the policy creators and those who implement these policies. Using descriptive and analytical approach, all the information was carefully gleaned from the internet. Such data as age distribution, grade and educational level, period of stay in the organization, the internal software as well as challenges of the accounting software, the quality of IT personnel was collected to reveal the potential impact of the Information and Communication Technology on employees’ work performance and the entire business process. Moreover, the different influence on professionals on various ranks was also explored showing the positive direction of all the discoveries. In addition, the qualitative information illustrates the underlying changes in the organization and helps to understand how the productivity may be improved. The utilizing of Information and Communication Technology leads to lower costs in the bank, however, the effect on profitability is open ended causing the possibility of competition in financial services any way (Agbesi, 2013). It is also known that Information and Communication Technology in the educational sphere is growing, involving considerable changes toward the system of education. Thus, traditional classroom studying is added by the learning through desktop computers or as it is defined as E- learning and by means of mobile devices, which are called the Mobile- learning or M- learning. These two ways accomplish the Information and Communication Technology, having both advantages and disadvantages over it. In his paper, Asabere proposes different measures to be taken into account in attempt to transform E-Learning into M-Learning. He identified the advantages and disadvantages of each learning. Advantages Disadvantages E- learning less expensive in terms of the equipment; the input and output capabilities are easier for users; devices are not portable; cannot be provided through Global Positioning System; M- learning freedom in learning from anywhere anytime; can be provided through GPS; wireless networks are more expensive; size of screen makes it less friendly; What is also important is the ways by which E- learning and M- learning can be provided. While, E- learning is supported by constant connection, the M- learning needs internet connection once one wants to use the device. Today, there are many technological ways that enable the M- learning devices an access to the World Wide Web and other services, such as Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) or General Packet Radio Service (GPRS). In addition, M- learning is able to provide the learning information even if it offline, as the possibilities of these devices allow to collect and store all necessary data for that. With the developing in th telecommunication sphere, new types of cell phones have also emerged, giving its users possibility to do their activities, because such devices have more processing power, memory and embedded software (Asabere, 2012). Finally, with the possibilities that modern technology give the society, it has become more obvious that business should also pay more attention on the coming changes in this sphere. It should keep abreast on such innovations as modern applications that enable to run, track and monitor business from anywhere in the world. Another study, conducted by Conrad and Newberry, investigated the perceptions of business school instructors and human resource managers toward the importance of the specific business communication skills. In business, different sources state that communication skills are critical to one’s career success and are important contributors to the company’s success. Different researchers claim that communication skills are extremely necessary to students’ career success; business students with understanding about communicating better practice the communication and thus, develop their communication skills; although correction in communication skills is in the first flight of needs of education, students do not receive proper education in such skills. In addition, not all professors realize fully if their students possess enough communication skills and that these skill would be enough to pursue one’s professional career. There is also a general statement that business communication skills are important enough to be included to the business curriculum, however, even after that there is no adequate agreement that entry- level employees would have good communication skills. Scholars and practitioners claim that professional efficiency is connected with the communication competence and thus, business school faculty should realize they have to equip their students with the communication skills that potential employers require. The audits that were published during the thirty year period have shown information for the internal and external stakeholders that allowed them to examine and evaluate the need and results of introductory course, trace pedagogical and administrative benchmarks and find the new opportunities. Based on the findings, Conrad and Newberry have investigated the importance of communication skills in Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota in order to find out if there is agreement or field for the development of communication skills for business. For the study, there were involved two hundred and seventeen publications for the identification of business communication skills. Publications were examined to gather the most frequently- cited business communication skills. A wide variety of communication skills have occurred from the examination process. While the skills covered such business competencies in such disciplines as human resources, management, stakeholder relations and communication technology, the most frequently cited communication skills were found in the teaching important skills, resolving conflict, negotiating, building team bonds and building optimism and building relationship. The results from this study show the importance of the overall student or employee communication skills. Although there were many similarities in responses between the business leaders and business teachers, the study explored significant differences in perceptions of communication skill importance (Conrad & Newberry, 2011). Business across the world pay more attention to the ways of communication, such as social media that are used not only as communication vehicle, but also to learn more about their staff. Opening up better channels of communication, social media has limited the use simple email as a means of communication in business to the mainstream of changing information in the business world. In his article, Savitz provides a holistic overview on how the communication technologies and social media work in business. He points to the better insight of customer behavior for business, improving of an organizational productivity and measurable return on investment that finally brings a business much profit. In addition, social media becomes the business productivity tool that help to improve communications and collaboration within the enterprise (Savitz, 2012). With the opening new ways to business, such as social media, it become possible to the organizations to contribute the economic growth and increase the practice through using of E- commerce availability. Fariborzi and Zahedifard discussed the advantages and disadvantages of email marketing and suggested techniques that will enable to improve an email marketing. It is a considerable advantage of the email marketing if to take into account the investing opportunities it gives. Thus, with every dollar invested in e- mail marketing, one can expect for forty- three dollars, making this sphere of marketing the one with the highest return. E-mail marketing allows one organization to adopt email to the certain customer and enables business to respond with more relevant e-mails. The easy use, measurability and automatic tools are the main advantages of the e-mail marketing. For business, it is vital to implement email in the right way, so to achieve more. Thus, Fariborzi and Zahedifard offer the steps for the implementation of the email marketing that will enable to build the customer database, create a privacy policy for the visitors to secure them and thus build trustful relationship with them, and also track results of competition (Fariborzi & Zahedifard, 2012).
