Why we have too Few Women in Leadership Introduction Sandberg comes out to clearly explain why there are too few leaders in the world’s competitive positions. Women have to realize that there are lots of opportunities waiting for them and can only get them by standing up, facing challenges and thinking independently.Through Sandberg’s talk, it is evident that women are limited by their personal obstacles when it comes to achieving similar results as their male counterparts. Women have shown a tendency of underestimating their abilities while men on the other hand positively attribute their achievements to their abilities.

This theme is evident through the description given by Sandberg of when they attended a meeting in which a male executive took a seat at the table while the female executives sat along the wall.Effective leadership is well expressed in this talk. Leaders are challenged to negotiate especially women. It should be noted that no one can get to a corner office by comfortably sitting on the sidelines. In addition, leaders should be able to look out for new opportunities and make decisions effectively.

They have to contribute in the workforce and enable women have a choice in feeling part of the team.Success is correlatively positively related to men and negatively to women. This is exactly what happens at my work place. Women seem to be their own worst enemies because they feel intimidated whenever they fail and always discourage each other. Actions taken by women in work places deny them chances to excel in their careers. This is because they quietly lean back due to family issues like having a child at home.

Leaderships skills expressed in this talk are decision making and leading the change. Leaders have to make critical decisions to ensure effective transition of activities. Women are encouraged to take up challenges and avoid using family challenges in making work related decisions. Everything is always smooth when leaders take a lead in embracing change. Men are challenged to contribute by making sure the issues pertaining gender discrimination are dealt with in order to enable women make choices.

ConclusionWomen are seen as their own worst enemies even when they seem to fight for equal rights. They have to take up challenges and involve their partners in building their careers. By fighting to eliminate barriers that limit women into leadership positions, Sandberg encourages women to see themselves as achievers and never be victims of intimidation.ReferenceSandberg Sheryl.
