Business Proposal for the Yammy Photo Travel App Industry The travel industry has been one of the fastest growing industries all over the world. Perhaps, the impact of the internet in the industry has been the sole driving factor since the consumers continue to swim the online travel industry with the aim of searching for the prices on hotels and flights. Of late, the mobile devices have cropped up as flexible tools that enable travelers to amending their trips especially in the airline industry. It is anticipated that the growth of mobile is likely to overtake the online growth travel (John 4). In addition, the use of tablets and Smartphones among other devices has been embraced all over the world and has change people’s travelling modalities. They have become ideal companion to traveler as it enables them to not only access information but also services and booking while on transit. Tablets have emerged as effective devices for concluding purchases (Mark 3). However, the increase in use of mobile in the industry has encountered challenges such as little or lack of 4G and Wi-Fi coverage; bad experience of the user design; and frictions that hamper users from concluding transactions through the mobiles. There has been no pressure for marketing apps since users tend to focus activities on some few applications. Moreover, the retention of these users has proved to be quite challenging. The expenses obtaining and user retention is sky rocketing (Tony 3). Interestingly, the cost of retaining the users of the apps is proving to be higher than that used in the acquisition of new users. Despite the above glaring challenges, there are some techniques that can be employed so that apps have a competitive advantage in the climate of business arena. It is advisable for app developers to market the apps just before new devices such as phones are availed into the market. The cost of apps tend to heighten when devices are availed hence there is usually a lot of competition for consumers to download the various applications in the market in the launched new gadgets. It is for these reasons, that when consumers purchase the new launched devices then they have higher chances of downloading the apps that were previously in the mind (Brandon 6). App developers should also use a strong attractive nutritious name that enables the visibility of their apps. The popularity of the install apps through ads is high and optimizes the visibility of through means that are not paid for. The ideal strategy to retain users who already have the app downloads; the developers can incorporate the messages in the in-apps such that by offering deal so that the users/consumers continue using these apps (Mark Para 3). There are numerous photographic apps that have been developed with the aim of promoting the culture of photography and making it fun. Some of these apps are: instagram as web social media app that enables users to share and like photos; Lensical app; Pixel Wakker, PicLab HD, and Sktchy. These apps have distinctive features that differentiate them from each other (Allen Para 4). Mission: To provide customers with the ideal app experience for rental photography equipment while travelling by leveraging technology and being the global leader in the provision of the services. Vision: To build a platform that enables individuals to use mobile apps for rental of photography equipment all over the globe. Concept of the product: To provide users with an app that allows them to rent photography equipment while travelling. The application will have the potential of identifying stores that that rent these equipment in the destination towards which the users are travelling to. The app enables the users and sellers to converge through a friendly and a platform that is trustworthy. Value of the proposition: The values are: pricing of the apps in an affordable manner that commensurate with the quality of provisions embedded in them; convenience and flexibility by sub-optimizing the bureaucratic processes involved in travelling industry; and providing the consumers with the leverage of choice. Trends The mobile app industry has witnessed rapid changes over the last decade. Perhaps this can be attributed to the increase use of androids and smartphones by consumer. For instant, transportation and travelling applications has significantly grown as it is approximated that the growth is roughly by 30%. The world has also encountered an increase in downloads of the mobile app that allow video streaming as well as photographic manipulation and enhancement (Nomadic Para 4). The females have been culprits of app related to demographics for photo, social networking, and videos. In addition, messaging apps that integrate photos such as instagram and facebook has been consistently growing. Companies have also come to the realization of the importance of the various apps in the mobile industry in enhancing their business. Besides the above mentioned trends, obtaining users to conform to the various fluxes of mobile apps in the market has compelled the developers to provide free downloads for these apps in a bid to not only maintain the existing users but also to widen the user base. In 2010, the web apps grew by 232% (Michelleti 224). Due to the various apps in the market, the consumers have become more gullibly to apps that appear or are perceived to be convenient, flexible, fun and have less friction when employed. Targeted market The target market is likely to encompass college/university-educated individual who have the potential of being professional photographers. They not only have the highest probability of clients ordering photos that are professional but also professional photographs that are quality on regular basis. These individuals need photography equipment to further their career and purchasing these equipment may be costly hence they have to hire them from companies. The other targets will be the companies that offer rental equipment. The app will connect these companies to their prospective clients thus widening their market scope. In addition, the Yammy Company will target families on holidays who have the desire for adventure. These families may require photography equipment alongside professional photographers. A click on the app in their devices will allow them to not only locate the available photography rental equipment store but also identify these stores in the destination of their adventure. Competitors There are companies that rent photography equipment such as Adorama Rental Company that are likely to rival Yammy travel photo app company. This company has huge selection of professional photos, videos that are HD quality, and lighting as well grid equipment. Their prices are relatively low and they inspect their equipment before they are hired. They avail their equipment for pick up and also ship them throughout the US. Moreover, they have an iPhone app that assist in locating the location for an ordered snap (Adorama Para 4). The other likely competitor is BorrowLenses. It offers variety of lenses thus giving the customers the leverage to choose the type of rent they want and the duration or renting the instruments. It also offers other accessories related to photography such as flashes, lights, memory cards, and tripods. The third competitor is LensProToGo Company. It offers selection of both the Nikon lenses and cannon lenses maily in the US inclusive of Hawii and Alaska. The rental period for their equipment is between 1 to 4 full weeks and has an option for rental insurance. Moreover, the FedEx has the night shipping option. The other rental photography companies are the LenseRental.com, LensLenders.com, PhotoLensRental.com, Rent Camera Gear, ZipLens.com, and RentGlass.com. However, the Yammy Company seeks to capitalize on its ability to provide an app that links users and the rental companies (John Para 7). Besides the competition from the rental companies, the Yammy app will also face competition from the already available photography apps in the market. One of these apps in the market is the Lensical app. The app creates face effects by adding photo filter. It’s designed for displays that are larger and its platform is iOS (iPhone) while the developer is Apptly, LLC. The other app is Popkick whose developer is Pixabi, LLC and its platform is similar to that of Lensecal. It enables users to turn their photos into neon pop art with great effect filter tools as well as interface. It also has 9 pop filter and 5 enhancement filter and has a provision of sharing through the various social media sites. The next competitor app is Pixel Wakker which allows users to have fun by breaking down the photos into the pixel component. It has four effects such as: dot, pixel image, lines and color rain though the app is relatively limited. PicLab HD is another competitor app that is characterized by creating inspiring images. It has provisions for editing photos making the original ones look at their best. Its other striking feature is the provision of typographical effects. The final app is the Sktchy. The app enables users to create sketched selected photos that are uploaded into it. Individuals with these apps may not see the need of downloading the Yammy app or renting the photography equipment since these apps have effects that can modify their photographs (Allen Para 4). In addition, the other competitors that may emanate from the travel industry are: the Lounge Buddy, Options Away, the Points Guy, and Frame Bridge among other. The Lounge Buddy app is an app that allows the client after entering their credit cards inclusive of the membership and airline status; it assists in directing the users the accessible lounges at any airport. On the other hand the Option Away app allows clients to purchase cheap insurance on the price of the ticket while the Point Guy has a provision that awards points with as little cash as possible. The Frame Bridge app lets users select photo from any source, select the frame of the photo and size after which the user uploads the order using the phone. Moreover, the app has a provision of letting the user verify the uploaded image if it satisfies the intension of the user (Nomadic Para 6). It is prudent to comprehend that the Lounge Buddy targets those who intend to use the various airline services while the Frame Bridge attempts to promote the love and culture of photography (Rich 229). The major weakness of these competitor apps is that none of them has a provision that links photography and travelling. This is a component that Yammy Company seeks to leverage on since it will enable users to distinct it from the other existing apps. Finance The Yammy app will be freely downloaded by the various users and the sellers of photography equipment. Both the user and the seller of the photography instruments will have to register to own accounts on the developed app. The app will require the various sellers to provide privy information concerning their location and description of their services. This provision will enable the customers (user) to evaluate if their services and equipment have the potential of meeting their expectations and needs (John 6). The access to various photographic companies’ profiles through the app will also be free. However, charges will only be levied to the sellers using the apps once the users have rented their equipment. The payment for the services by the users will be effected through the app into the accounts of the sellers after which automatic deductions from the sellers account will be made. The payment mode for the users will be through the use of credit card. The charges will only be labeled on the sellers or traders using the app to facilitate their business ventures. This commission that will emanate from the deduction form the sellers will only take place when their equipment has been rented. This implies that the Yammy business will earn from commissions of each of the rented equipment by the seller of these instrument (Rich 229). This mode of payment is relatively similar to how mobile money transaction takes place. The only difference being that in this case the client to a particular retail or business venture that deals with photography instruments pays for the services to be offered through the app after which the Yammy company deducts automatically the commission emanating from the transaction on the seller’s account.
