Women in Business Table of Contents Introduction 3 Discussion 4 Conclusion 8 References 9 Introduction It is evident from the socio-cultural aspects that society has been setting the rules for masculinity as well as femininity with broader implication of the same in cultural and social aspects. To overcome all specific conventions, I have to set some personal goals, e. g. ‘Self-awareness’ that could help me preparing for performing the leadership role, take challenges in business, and solve the critical problems as well. Additionally, ‘learning ability’ is also involved in developing the future prospect in business as well as improves leadership quality within my performance domain. Furthermore, ‘Positive influences’ would also help in enhancing the sustainability in business along with betterment of the leadership mentality. This progressions in the individual characteristics development is going to enhance the ability of ‘communication’ that would indicate the base point of any business. According to my individual need for development, these four goals would help in improving my ability for meeting the appropriated requisites of relevant business module. Professional aspiration is one of the important situations in life irrespective of the gender the individual belong. Furthermore, being a woman, I am even likely to face certain problems in the course of achieving these goals and fulfilling my professional desires (Elkin, 1960). In this regard, the paper intends to develop an effective understanding of the different needs for meeting with the progression of developing identities of women in business within the global domain. By analysing the different aspects of the problems attached with development of women, I will be enhancing my ability to understand myself and develop a better attribute of meeting with my personal needs of development. Discussion Biologically, we can differentiate male and female based on their predefined physical appearances. However, in sociological aspect, the gendered views of the society segregates women and men based on the terms of ‘masculinity’ and ‘femininity’ parallel to their physical and biological segregations. The different influences exerted by the notion of socialisation could affect the behavioural patterns of culture and motivate to participation of new members in social relationship. My perception is that socialisation starts from families where these factors acts as agencies of socialisation and inflicts the views of discriminations based on gender. At the very beginning of my life, I have been allocated with different dress materials, colours for dresses, toys, books that were meant for a girl rather discriminated to be suitable for user of girls. Being a child I could note actually grasp that I am already being gendered and being a passive participant of the misconception associated with discriminations prevalent within the domain of socialisation. I even faced certain dogmas that specified me with job roles that were meant to be for girls and pressures from peers about behaving in a certain manner that were socialised specifically for girls. This created a certain impact on my upbringing and finally shaped my personality to a certain extent influenced by the conservative gendered views (Elkin, 1960). This segregated perception was evident at the different phases of my life ranging from my initial days of schools, to my years of youth. Pressure, which I faced, was visible with the development of career options specific goals and even with different segregation that I faced during the basic years of learning and up gradation. In the era of women discrimination media acted as a huge catalyst for developing further view of portraying women. In my views media treats women as an object and often portrays them to be sexual objects, which is often humiliating for any woman . In my perception, every woman should respect herself as a human being and go further with her dreams without thinking of any differentiation, which could shape her career aspirations (Alvesson & Deetz, 1996). Through this session, I would like to change my opinion towards myself as well as for all other women who are striving for developing their social status. Previously I was of the opinion that feminism only talked about the hindering sentiments that were prevalent for women since the initial years of social development. However, after a detailed research in the specific field, my beliefs have moulded to a certain extent and I could even recognise that feminism has been fighting for developing equality between men and women. Furthermore, the development of feminist views has even changed my conceptions and I could understand that the patriarchal system of society is a problem hindering progression of women (CMI, 2013). In our socio-cultural aspects, we always have seen that patriarchy in terms of traditionalism has being playing crucial roles in developing the perception for women. These traditional view leads to instances of gender biasness and affects the status of women. I have also faced certain amount of challenges during the different ages of my upbringing owing the influence of the patriarchal system of social development. Certain issues such as development of career goals and issues such as women empowerment are largely hampered if the ruling power is in the hands of the male. Furthermore, I would even like to comment that to influence a positive development within the society equal amount of power should be segregated among women and men to develop parity between the societies (Butler, 1990). Entrepreneurship is gaining its impetus based on the changing needs and progression within the society. Female entrepreneurship has been a developing concept and is finding its prominence within the male dominated social structure. Although I have not personally met, any women entrepreneurs but I have been highly influenced by the outstanding performances of women entrepreneurs such as Oprah Winfrey. Winfrey according to me is one of the live examples of development of women and progression of the race within the global domain. The way she has effectively fought against all the negative forces blocking her ways of progression is commendable. Coming across the different publications that details about her life I get reconnected to the different levels of negating attitudes that are often faced by girls when developing their progression and prominence within the globe (Alvesson & Deetz, 1996). Identity often plays a pivotal role in developing the different attributes of an individual and influences development of social status. Based on the different segments of discriminations I have developed a gender identity since my childhood to be a woman. Contextually, there are three types of gender identity, active, passive and politicized identity. In business where women are incapable of taking responsibility in an influential manner, depicting their passive behaviour is termed as passive identity. Active and politicized identity are often created when a women is noted to be accepting all the responsibility of a business concern, in an active way along with developing political strategy. Thus, to maintain an effective development and progression in the course of my life I must be developing my identity based on the progression of active identity strategies. Correspondingly, to develop my prominence in the society I would be effectively taking measures that would be helping me frame my career based on my active and politicised characteristic traits (CMI, 2013). Sexism is the other name of gender discrimination that is prevalent within the social stratum. From my point of view, women are affected from this development of instances and concepts of sexism although I have not faced any issues that related with sexism I have often evidenced similar instances from my friends and peers. I could however, develop my views that based on the instances of sexual discriminations people often face chances of sexual harassment and other hindering instances within the social domain (Butler, 1990). I do feel that the chances of hindering attitude towards women and such situations of heinous attitude could be largely rectified by fighting against such issues and raising voice against the same (Butler, 1990). In global perspective, I would like to say that the review of existing situations supporting women must be developed rather these must be changed and more women entrepreneurs must be encouraged to develop their in business. The review of the ailments faced by women at several social levels has increased my willpower and has further increased my ability to influence the need for development of women within the global arena (Bradley, 2013). Symposium The development of knowledge about traits and need of women empowerment is going to develop my ability to meet with the needs of progression in my future years. This would even help me in developing a better view and eradicate the discriminations that are prevalent within the social domain affecting progression of human. The knowledge has even opened my beliefs about progression and social development affecting the different attributes and developments that I am going to face in my future years. Conclusion Regarding this module, I have developed my abilities by increasing my abilities of, self-awareness, learning ability, positive influence, as well as communication. I could understand through this module, importance of self-improvement in perception of quality, identity, to make an active progression towards developing business. Furthermore, by adhering to my personal goals of self-awareness and learning ability I have been capable of overcoming the critical situation of domestic as well as business circumstances that lead to development of individual quality as well as managing capability. During the progression of the module, there has been huge amount of positive influences that would help me to enrich myself for my future business prospects as well as sustainability. The learning that I have attained in the due course of the module has enhanced my view towards the different aspects of the society and is even going to develop my future perceptions about development of women. Additionally this would even help me in developing the different attributes and frame my character so that I will be able to attain better goals. References Bradley, H., 2013. Gender.
