Personal Goal A professional carries on a set of tasks with specialization and is paid a determined sum of money to carry out the work. These careers included a list of professions but as the times have changed there are many other professions and careers besides the obvious one’s such as doctors, engineers, architects and lawyers, artists, accountants, social-workers and educators etc. The choice one makes related to his / her career depends not only on the education and skills but such choice should also align with one’s interest, passion and love. During the era of industrialization and till now people still opt for safe choices although my reason for choosing to be an educator is down to my interest and skills. I am just beginning my professional career. The reason to choose this field of profession was that it offers a chance to gain a never ending knowledge of a particular field of study, whether the knowledge comes from the student or any other source. The future of being an Educator is great as it provides ways to get involved in the field of study directly, a direct interaction with the students helps to gain awareness about the perspective of the young generation and how the future of the world is going to change according to their mindsets. In addition to that, being an educator provides a never ending professional development and opportunity to learn. This is so because there is always going to be potential of development and research in different fields of education. Emergence of new skills and concepts allow educators to grow and development professionally parallel to acting as an expert in their own field. The career of an educator comes with apparent challenges. A decade ago education was not considered a professional job but today teachers are required to prepare themselves before entering a class. Similarly in coming 4 to 5 years, the level of studies would enhance and a simple explanation won’t be enough to clear the doubts of students. A teacher has to face such challenges and give a logical reasoning and prove his point of view with examples to convince the students. The greatest strength of being a teacher is his knowledge, being a specialized teacher in the field of economics particularly is a benefit in itself. Development is needed in every profession, but specifically for an educator, knowledge of new advancements and discoveries are a must for satisfying and teaching the students. To be a successful educator, communication and interpersonal skills are necessary so that everything is easily understood by all students. Secondly there is a constant need for increasing one’s knowledge and skills with constant revisions in order to teach effectively. Where as in the coming year I need to enhance few areas to participate and develop professionally. Firstly an educator has to continue his studies, in my case a professional master’s degree in my field of study, secondly adopting the latest way of teaching i.e. through presentations and multi-media and lastly to prepare oneself before a particular lecture. All these areas need development to enhance my current skills and ensure a healthy career as an educator. In addition to that, changing requirements of the students and continuously transforming structure of education system in different parts of the world requires teachers and educators to be more attentive to changes that are being taking place in their field of study. Nowadays, students expect teachers to not only be experts in their given fields but multidisciplinary, furthermore provide them with emotional and professional guidance with a level of individual attention to needs. Hence, a teacher is expected to be a mentor along with being an instructor. Furthermore, participation of all kind of students i.e. different ethnic groups, socio-economic classes and disable students, in main education system has introduced further complexities in the education system that has redefined the role of educators. The graph of success in a professional career faces sets backs as well but it is most important for an individual to be determined and positive in that phase of downfall to overcome the situation. Being an educator the biggest support I have is of the professional knowledge and education I have gained. It helps in building strong learning capability. Lastly the best way to know that an educator has enhanced the areas that needed improvement is when the students grasp and absorb the logical and technical knowledge. Therefore a professional these days has a superior intellectual education and maintain their own standard of excellence and success (Raelin ). It is also important that educators should be aware of instances where they may need help and guidance of other professionals. Even senior educators may need career counseling and support of peers for further professional development. Therefore, they need to perform analysis of their current skills and desired skills level and identify ways of fulfilling the gaps in between. Having realistic expectations and thorough knowledge of new advancements can help one to excel in their given fields. It is important to note that one needs to be able to forecast changes that are likely to be taking place in one’s field. Like other global industries, education sector has also shown considerable changes in past few years. Due to technological advancements, educational institutes have transformed greatly. Now, students from all around the world have an opportunity of staying connected in one virtual classroom. In addition to that, students travelling to other countries are another example of overwhelming global dynamics. Exchange students’ programs, scholarships for foreign students etc are such regimes that facilitate globalization to affect the way education sector used to operate earlier. Due to heterogeneous classroom environment, the teachers are required to be more attentive towards cultural, social and individual requirements of the students. Although the curriculum adopted is required to be uniform in order to ensure development of students at the same scale however an individualized approach is required from the educators as requirements of students from different demographic segments may vary. These changing global dynamics and changing role of educators from instructors to culturally sensitive mentors also has an effect on the personal and professional preferences of those pursuing their career as an educator. I am aware of the fact that in coming few years, the global context of education sector is likely to present a more uniform view due to decreasing differences in social and cultural frame of references. Therefore, I need to be more attentive towards technical developments taking place in my field while fulfilling regulatory requirements of my profession. Now that world is getting more interconnected and wired every day, I can view myself dealing with students, educators and researchers across the border. This means increased interaction with professional peers and greater opportunity of professional and personal growth. On the downside, same notion also projects more challenges for me as a homogenous workforce with same skills would increase competition for those operating in this field. Therefore, I not only view myself operating at an extensive scale but also facing more challenges to prove myself highly skilled in my own field. Considering the evolving perspective of dynamics of globalization, I would emphasize on making myself well-prepared for future challenges. Since requirements of students and other authorities in my field are likely to increase and become more complex in future, therefore it is important that I identify these challenges before time and make myself prepared for them. I believe that this change in education sector is likely to take place although with slow pace. Therefore, I would focus on getting myself suitable education primarily and then identifying opportunities for professional growth. This may involve getting certification and completing various courses that can add credits to my professional profile. A critical analysis of impact of globalization on education sector helps in understanding that change is inevitable therefore it is important that one prepares for it before time.
