Critical Thinking Critical thinking in my view involves applying deep thought in analyzing information that will then be applied to make decisions or adopt a belief. Some of the characteristics of critical thinking include evaluating information that has been gathered by observation, or experience. It is also characterized by the reliance of sound evidence, good reasoning, and precision. This means that for one to engage in critical thinking, they have to question the information that they have greatly.

They have to consider alternative view points, identify any assumptions, and take into consideration the evidence that is in their possession before making conclusion. I practice critical thinking sometimes. I believe one of the situations in which I apply critical thinking is in class or when making decisions that will affect my life or others in a major way. In such situations, I try to gather accurate information, synthesize it, and criticize it before making a conclusion. There are certain times that I do not apply critical thinking.

I say this because sometimes I act impulsively, for example, when I go shopping. I tend to assume that I do not need to think too hard to make a choice on what to buy. Many people do not apply critical thinking in general. This is because they tend to make decisions without giving much thought to the issues that they are handling or facing. They also make decisions by considering their own view points as opposed to considering several different view points before coming to conclusions.
