Discuss how the engineering design process works for a mechanical component (in this case a lifting device) in an industrial set

The process steps in some instances appear sequential, although, in some cases with light of changing design models the steps may be reverse or parallel to one another. Every design situation has unique set of demands and criteria, thus, choosing a design process will be dependent on the specific needs of the project (Lumsdaine et al 1999). The design process would normally entail an entire business or enterprise from product idea to the maintenance of the product, and all the stages that are in between. An engineering designs, thus characterizes the aspect of both the process and the product. The process being the series of continuous actions ending in a precise result and the product being the thing produced as an end result of the process. Graphics would normally be employed to help in visualization of possible solutions and for documentation of the design for purposes of communication (Ertas & Jones, 1996). In an open-ended design setting, engineers would use their math and science knowledge to investigate all options that are possible and do a comparison of many ideas of design. In this case, at the starting point of problem-solving, the engineer or designer does not know precisely the solution to meet the requirements. ...

The dimensions of the frame should be decided while considering the size of the power source it has to accommodate. The options under consideration (the conversion kit, Honda GX 35 and the AC Motor) have different size so the selection of the frame should be made in accordance with the largest size. The ease of accommodating the power source can also be increased by carefully selecting a location for installing the source. The largest dimensions are of Honda GX 35 i.e. 7.8” × 9.8” × 12.7”.

Tacit Knowledge for the Training of pre-service Industrial Design and Technology Teachers in Australia
From the research it can be comprehended that a lot has been heard and talked about tacit knowledge in the field of teaching and teacher training. According to Chandra and Chalmers, the knowledge contains certain tacit aspects that cannot be codified but are only transmitted through personal experience or training. Tacit knowledge is defined by Shulman as the knowledge that cannot be transferred to other using words either written or verbalised. As such, tacit knowledge has been recognised in the literature of teacher training only one aspect – who possesses this knowledge – rather than...

Basically, a data center of any given company presents infrastructural and technical conditions virtually required by the company for efficient running of its day to day activities. A data center has to possess the abilities of securing the installed components and servers from unauthorized access and external dangers and also, the provision of the required infrastructure that facilitate smooth running of the given company’s IT systems. The physical constructed structure has to have the ability to protect the telecommunication components against fire, floods, hurricanes and any other natural...

Immediately after the manual manuscripts were faced off in 1929, the use of punch cards came into existence, and this led to the development of impact character printers like the dot matrix. However, due to the technological revolution, better shaped printer known as Xerox was invented by Chester Carlson in the year 1938. This invention created provisions to the development of the modern lesser printer that are otherwise considered as the latest sophisticated type of printers in the current market. By 1953, Remington Rand facilitated the development of a propounded dot-matrix type of printer,...

The History of Goal-line Technology Different football stakeholders around the world have made the calls for the technology. These calls have intensified since 2010 in the English Premier League (EPL), recent World Cup games, and the just concluded Euro 2012. However, the calls to implement the technology started in 2000 after referee error in judging penalty shootout between Nigeria and Cameroon enabled the latter to win the Africa...

Additionally, the implication takes note of the risk level that is associated with the established significant parameters (Budd, 2006). From the questionnaire generated, the customer requirement for key ring torch includes a metal shell body having different colors, 58 by 20 MM size, LED light for lighting, nice color, and 4pc button cells that are included on the key ring. I used the questionnaire over the other methodologies because the responses are collected in a standardized manner; therefore, this method is more objective, certainly more than the Focus Group Discussion and Interviews....
