Of special interest are the fundamental contributions of women artists in various fields of design. Even though many societies have failed to acknowledge and appreciate the significance of women in the field of architecture, their influence is imminent. Apparently, they have completely revolutionized various forms of design, which includes fashion and ceramics. Different writers have recognized the design in connection with the gender in their writings of the emerging field of design studies (Buckley 2012 p. 3). Design experts have begun to review their position on the subject of design particularly by focusing on the cultural significance. For many years, women have lost a voice in the field despite their contributions simply due to the realism that their male counterparts dominate the field (Buckley 2012 p. 3). In the past, designers and architects have utilized their aptitude and skills in design to build structures and facilities that have played critical as far as the subject of design is concerned. Among such designers are women among a considerable number of men. Even though the society has for a long period exhibited a structure that tend to believe that men are the only designers and architects, the myth is fast changing with more and more women designers coming into the limelight. Women involvement in design has influenced the dynamics of the practice in various ways. There are women theorists, consumers, historians, practitioners, and as objects of presentation. Women contribution has challenged the universal believe of the design fraternity that women have little or no contributions to the various developments architecture and design in the past few years (Buckley 2012 p. 3). Today, the practice continues to hold powerful position in the society notwithstanding the social and technological challenges (Gomez-Palacio & Vit 2008 p. 25). In the modern societies, the belief and myth about design and architecture are fast changing with many women joining the career as full time practitioners and advisors.
