Abstinence-only sex education is a type of sex education, which focuses on abstinence from sex (“Abstinence-Only Sex Education”, 2011). It usually does not include birth control methods and safe sex education; it particularly excludes sexual and reproductive health education (“Abstinence-Only Sex Education”, 2011).
Some studies seem to be purely motivated by political beliefs, while others are thoroughly researched and professionally presented. One such study that raises questions about the efficacy of single-sex classrooms focused on reading and math classes in a middle school with a high population of minority students.
