Responsibilities of an Authorized Supervisor An authorized supervisor who was selected under the 1987 Act is spontaneously considered an authorized supervisor under the Act of 1998. There are numerous variations for authorized supervisors. An authorized supervisor is permitted to administer two facilities if there is another capable staff member at both services. If the authorized supervisor is the only capable staff member at a facility, then only that facility might be administered. It is inevitable so that a high excellence service is being conveyed and an appositely competent person is supervising distribution (Services, 2004). 1. Roles and Responsibilities of an Authorized Supervisor 1.1 Family day care One of the primary responsibilities of supervisor occurs with family day care. ‘Relief family day carer’ and ‘Primary family day care carer’ confirm that examination of reprieve carers happens, and inspires more folks to become carers as they know that reliable reprieve care is at their disposal. Maintaining ratios is essential for authorized supervisors as when two or more groups are brought together, these groups may only be pooled if the child to staff ratios are upheld. There is no change to the obligated staff to child ratio related to getting the children together (Services, 2004). Services that at present are in effect care for 3-6 year olds in a group of 25 when there are three staff members present and are permitted to organize the children into two or three groups within one apartment. No extra staff is needed for this to take effect. For instance, if there are 28 children in groups of 20 children between the ages of three to five and eight children under two years of age, the ratios would obligate three staff members. The children will be allocated into at least two groups (in order to maintain suitable group sizes), and the three staff members would oversee those groups. At this point, no extra staff member will be required (Services, 2004). 1.10 Video Monitoring Gear This gear is allowed in a service for watching at the service, but is no longer permitted for remote observing for instance over the Internet. This modification confirms the security and secrecy of staff but most importantly of the children. The technology used in webcams cannot be certain to be safe. 1.11 Seat belts While moving children on daytrips, vehicles adept of seating more than nine folks are not required to be fixed with child restraints. Safety railings should be installed to make sure the kids don’t go near the windows or potentially dangerous railings. One strategy would be to increase the number of staffs but the standard child to staff ratio needs to be followed. Video Monitoring Strategy It is a very handy safety precaution. No specific strategy at the managerial level is required. However one thing that the manager needs to make sure is that observation is done through CC TV cameras and not through web cams. Staff to Child ratios Proper scheduled shifts must be made for the staff and every individual needs to know the proportions and ratios (no exceptions). The authorized supervisor must review the schedule to see if it is in compliance with the standard or not. Moreover supervisor must also check with the staff, if they know the standard procedure or they need to be retrained. Glass and Glass safety Before starting the operations of its facility, it must be made sure that the premises are appropriate and according to the standards. As making adjustments after the building is functioning can get costly, budgeting in advance can also be a very handy strategy. In any case, safety railing can be installed on immediate basis. Maintaining the Group Size Preplanning is the key here in this task. To make sure that everything is done according to the standards, planning in advance is crucial. Supervisor needs to talk to the immediate person of staff that will be separating the groups. Course needs to be completed by the supervisor and top managers can review it to make sure that the purpose has been served. Compare and Contrast There are four universal jobs of a manager. They include planning, organizing, leading, and controlling. All four roles are very essential and no one function is better than another (Megginson, 1992). In the above discussion of authorized supervisor, it has been observed that all four functions are being performed. Controlling is planning ways to confirm that plans are being attained. As a manager one needs to continually check on things himself to make sure that precise actions are being taken (Mondy R.Wayne, 1992). In the above discussion, supervisor was supposed to constantly check the child to staff ratio to make sure that they followed the requirement. Supervisors need to make sure that their staff can perform duties which are not generally assigned to them. This is crucial when the business needs to win (Allen I. Kraut, 1989).
