Behavioural This is based on the fact that behaviours are learned. It says that inappropriate behaviours are as a result of inappropriate learning, and vice versa. Treatment achieved by imparting on an individual the various consequences of their behaviour. For those consequences that strengthen behaviour are reinforced, while those that weaken are reduced. Ecological This model takes an individual as a member of a variety of social groups. For children, the groups include school, peers and family. Positive emotional and mental health is necessary for all students if they and their peers are to receive the best possible education and educators are able to work at their optimum level. Experiencing poor levels of mental health has far reaching effects on behaviour , relationships, feelings as well as physical health.

In Egypt, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, for example, both medical and mental health practitioners have estimated the figure at around three-quarters of the above 14 age group and have identified depression as the most prevalent condition (Loza, 2006).
Yvette Cooper-Minister for Public Health and Professor Liam Donaldson-Chief Medical Officer stated this in a recent Department of Health publication ('From Vision to Reality', 2001). Her statement holds true to various groups of individuals in all kinds of society - even to the case of pregnancy.
WHO or World Health Organization had also came up with its own definition of health i.e. that health "is a state of complete physical, mental and social well being and not merely the absence ofr disease or infirmity (WHO 1946). Although it is a positivist definition as compared to the first one, it was still assailed because it was basically utopian which could hardly be attained by most individuals.
Therefore, the challenge for the coming years will likely be to fully realise the potential for health promotion inherent in many sectors of society, among local communities, and within families. The ability to effectively cope with this challenge will largely depend on the extent to which modern health professionals are aware of the whole range of factors, both overt and covert, that influence human health and affect effectiveness of efforts intended to improve health of individuals and populations.
Developments in technology and health care services are changing the field of mental health nursing.Post World War II, health services have begun to realize the need to revolutionize the treatment of mental illness. Concurrent researches in the fields of psychology and sociology have revealed the importance of mental health and the programs that promote and support those.
