The necessity of uniform in schools is still a controversial subject all over the world. Students, educationalists, sociologists and parents have different opinions and views about this subject. Many people believe that school uniforms are necessary to identify students from other people in the school campuses.
Most people would agree that schools should have the freedom to decide what kind of ethos and style they wish their staff and students to represent. Some schools have very strict rules, with mandatory uniforms, while others advocate a free dress code. The question of whether or not to introduce mandatory school uniforms has been widely debated with a wide range of opinions being expressed in the United States in recent years.
Broadly, the study sought to highlight the strong points and weaknesses on either side of the arguments. Towards this objective, a range of expert opinions was sourced from relevant literature, which touches on the subject. Specific focus was on the most recent publications that have dwelt on the subject.
