The mind of an average student does not have this ability. My use of manipulative is to enhance understanding of abstract ideas. In addition, mathematics is not an attractive subject to most students. I therefore, use manipulative to make the subject interesting among students.
The importance of set theory as an elementary mathematics course has often been overlooked. Set theory is the basis of mathematics (Vaugh, 2001). The importance of set theory is more evident in higher mathematic courses than in courses taught at elementary schools. In elementary schools, all mathematics problems are carried on the set of natural numbers (1, 2, 3…). This aspect makes people to assume basics factors about set theory such as axioms (Vaugh, 2001). Set theory is the basis of higher mathematics such as Algebra, Geometry and complex Analysis.
To introduce set theory in an elementary school I will use real life scenarios. In this case, I will take the classroom as a set. Students will represent objects in the set while different groups of student who have similar characteristics will represent subsets within the main set. I will also use set builder notation to teach the ...

Observing Math Instruction
The observation lesson gives students an opportunity to incorporate different modes of learning such as tactile, visual and audio. This lesson plan breaks the monotony of the classroom instruction by incorporating other instructional devices like the computer and projector. It also allows students to learn both individually and in groups. This lesson will allow the impaired students to use their own senses. Their senses become highly developed, and they work on the ones they have shown deficiencies in. The lesson plan will also appeal to those with ADHD because of its stimulating and…

Math Reflective Paper
Summary of major mathematical concepts Data analysis is a fundamental concept that we covered in the first week through the course. This involves processes used to inspect, clean and model data to derive useful information. In this context, data refers to raw information obtained from the field or a real experiment. Real data is more complex than data used for class practice. Complexities of real data required us to apply data analysis software such as SPSS and Stata. Moreover, data collection is a costly procedure and, therefore, statisticians require the knowledge of probability. The concept…

Computer Games Improves motivation in Elementary School Math.
According to Azevedo (2005), mathematics or math games are fun activities. They usually encourage motivation, call for deep thinking, require both chance and skills, and provide multiple approaches to problem solving. These games implement certain mathematical strategies and skills by leveraging the natural inclination of the student to play. The games can either be played by an individual, a small or large group; it can be cooperative and/or competitive (Azevedo, 2005). Mathematical games have been proved to have some rewarding impacts to students. Azevedo (2005) argues that games are usually…
