I feel I need a PhD to enable me contribute to society in an expanded capacity owing to the immense knowledge I will have acquired.
Should you send an American teacher to tech here in Saudi Arabia, I would be more than willing to help him understand the nutrition situation in the country, and the best way to pass his knowledge, and how to overcome cultural and environmental barriers in his work.
In the course of my teaching at the university, I have interacted with great minds ready to make Saudi Arabia literate as far as nutrition is concerned. Upon their graduation, I am confident these young men and women have taken up this role in various capacities. We have also held a number of seminars and workshops to educate both the university and the community on nutrition.
I believe a good classroom is one that incorporates both the peer-to-peer group and instructor-led formats. Such a classroom should embrace the use information technology, such as laptop computers among other gadgets in the dissemination of knowledge.
I would not have any problem in regard to the practice in doctoral studies, where the student does not just receive information from the teacher. This is because I believe education is a two-way process where both the instructor and the student play their individual roles.
