I constantly had to refer to samples, and that occasionally drew my attention away from the main purpose of writing. A problem that I encountered particularly with others’ writings was grammatical errors. Grammatical errors make the paper seem unprofessional and the reader tends not to take it very seriously, even if the content carries a lot of weight.
Writing skills that I consider most important in the workplace include being proficient in the use of MS Word, and such other programs like Wordpad and Notepad etc. The user should know the various functions available and how they can be utilized to improve the writing. On-the-job education and training can play a prime role in the writing of a company’s correspondence as expected.
