There is an undeniable variance between the mode of delivery and evaluation of the students studying business administration, compared to the other programs. This makes us to introduce the argument that the degree programs in business administration are not sufficiently rigorous compared to the other degree programs offered in many institutions of higher learning. Introduction The context of our evaluation regarding the claim is based on the mode of appraising the progress and the general understanding of the students on subject matters pertaining the degree course. The mode of testing the understanding and participation of the students taking degree programs in business administration is different from that of other programs, especially science and technology programs. This question of evaluation arises from the little innovative contributions made by business administration program students through their study periods in universities, compared to science and technology students. Business administration students seem to contribute a little in development and innovation compared to their counterparts in engineering. Therefore, this fact makes one to question the rigor of business programs academically. The problem of appraising a student’s understanding on the subject through thorough and strict policies like examinations and practical falls under the general principles governing the quality of education. The process of appraising the level of understanding demonstrated by students is meant to maintain the appropriate standards of education in terms of quality. Regular examinations and practical are used to gauge the level of understanding of every student. Therefore, in business administration programs like in any other programs, examination server to appraise students. The main evaluative claim is concerning the strictness and the accuracy of testing a student’s capability in business courses. Business courses are mainly theoretical in nature, and offer little opportunity for practical learning. In science and technology, students spend a substantial amount of their studying time doing practical work. Therefore, this mode of appraisal applied in business administration is dominated by theories, hence making the programs less rigorous, compared to other fields. On the other hand, advocates for this mode of appraisal used in business courses would defend their policies. Matters of business administration are mainly inclined to study fields like sociology, psychology and economics, which have little to do with discoveries and innovations, but deals with applying the already gathered knowledge in solving problems. Students in business programs are mostly encouraged to develop the necessary conceptual skills, and to demonstrate good interpersonal skills as well. Therefore, this mode of appraisal is appropriate for the programs, in respect to the important underlying fields of study in business administration.
