Transfer Application EssayMy interest in finance and banking was inspired by my dad, whom I look up to not just as a parent, but also as a mentor in life; I grew up respecting my dad because he is a successful businessman and an investor. My dad owns several companies in various industries from mining to real estate to entertainment and watching him succeed in business helped me to develop aliking for business and interest in pursuing a career in finance. I have also had some interesting business experiences in my childhood, which inspired me to pursue a career in finance; the first time I attempted doing business I was still in high school.

Back in those days, I would juggle my studies in high school and the business of selling games to my friends. It suddenly occurred to me that I actually enjoyed doing that and it slowly grew into a hobby; selling games to my friends helped me to interact with my colleagues in high school thereby becoming a more sociable person. However, the profit from the business was not as impressive as I had anticipated and I decided to end the business after a short while, but of course I had learnt great lessons in the business.

I decided to focus on my studies instead, so that I couldtransfer to the United States; my dad told me that even though I didn't make as much profit as I had expected, he was happy that I had tried. He further encouraged me that expressing interest in business from that early age would eventually prepare me for the future.I am currently enrolled in Pasadena City College for a 2 years program and this is my fourth semester in this institution; I am expecting to achievea bachelor's degree in finance at the end of my studies.

I came from Indonesia and enrolled in Pasadena City College when I was only sixteen years old.I have a sister who studies Hospitality management in Geneva, Switzerland and a little brother back in Indonesia. It was hard for me at first because I had come alone leaving my family behind and I was very close with them; however, the Pesadena College offered me great opportunities to pursue my studies and to socialize thereby helping me to adjust and to fit in with the rest of the college community.

I am planning to transfer into a private Christian university because I want to anchor my career on Christian principles; I am seeking admission into this institution because my present school does not offerJesuit education. Thisinstitution will give me an opportunity to pursue my course in a Christian environment because it values Jesuit education, thereby fulfilling both my career and personal development goals. I came to select finance as my major because I am interested in banking and in pioneering the unexplored business and investment opportunities in my home country.

In a developing country like Indonesia, many opportunities still exist and are yet to be explored; once I clear my studies, I am planning to go back home to continue my dad's business in the real estate industry, and to start my own investment firm. A degree in finance will ultimately empower me to pursue both my career and personal development goals in life thereby contributing to sustainable global development.
