By making people feel obligated to the overall cause, it is easier to get people on one's side as opposed to using intimidation, fear, or even coercion. Empathy among all working groups in the organization makes for a highly motivated workforce or the environment. People need to know that they are appreciated by their peers, their supervisors, and ultimately, the organization they work for. This goes to show that their efforts are not in vain and that when there is any form of failure, the whole organization is capable of taking the heat without pointing fingers at each other. This is all aimed at getting people to be on the leader’s side, and also value the wise counsel provided by that office (Rushworth, 2005).Change is inevitable, and as chapter nine in Warren Bennis’ book indicates, organizations around the world need to be aware of the changes and be part of them, as this can make or break development. It is not enough to just be aware of what is going on without acting or being part of the change. According to Warren, this is like preparing for an attack while arranging one’s wagons in a circle, forgetting that everything else is in constant motion around that circle (Warren, 2009). Changes taking place revolve around technology and interdependence that is shared by most economies.
