The main role or responsibility that is assigned to the reception teacher is motivating and encouraging the learning abilities of the children, developing the personal and social abilities of the children in the school, increasing the curiosity and knowledge of the children, observing, assessing and also recording the growth and progress of the children in the school and it is the duty of the teacher to constantly update themselves with the course curriculum and the developments that are required for formulating best practices in guiding the children and also creating various opportunities and organizing various creative function for the children . The role of the reception teachers are recording the observations and summarizing the achievement and the success of the children. The teachers mainly emphasizes on the optimum development of the child and preparing for the successful transition of the child. The teacher is expected to provide best opportunities to its children for inspiring the children and promoting the ethos of the school. Discussion A. Role and Responsibility of this profession The role and the responsibility that will be required by me to perform being a reception teacher in a school is to focus on the physical, intellectual, emotional, creative and also social needs of the children in the school and also ensuring that it matches with the abilities and development of the children (Lieberman, 2007). I will be responsible for maintaining, supporting and developing the aims, objectives and policies of the school. For imparting best and proper education to the children I must keep myself updated with the specialist subject and the innovation and introduction of new technology and also application of various educational research and development and for creating a friendly environment I must work in coordination and with full cooperation with my colleagues for developing and introducing a holistic education which will transform the tradition into innovation (Wingerd, 2001). I am responsible for adapting according to the changes that is flexibility for coping up according to the changes and since the environment of the school is hectic and it required or expected to deal or interact with various people and together with that I will be responsible for handling all the students in the class and therefore it is required to remain calm and patience for handling all possible type of situations and hurdles. I will be assigned with promoting and safeguarding the children and increasing the welfare of the children and also the young people and following or abiding by the procedures of child protection and also supporting the values and ethics of the school through the contribution towards the development and implementation of the policies , procedures and practices that is required to be applied and followed by me as a responsible teacher. I will also be responsible for teaching and engaging myself in imparting the lessons for inspiring, motivating and improving the attainment (Weis, 1989). B. Entry and training requirement for the job The main requirement for entering into the job which I must qualify for adopting the profession are I must comply with the requirements of GCSE before applying for the course, I must have an experience of working for 10 days with the children prior to 12 months before the submission of the application and I will require to complete successfully the pre entry test in literacy and numeracy that is introduced and established by the National College for teaching and leadership and also completing the declaration as a health check forms and also criminal convictions (Hicks and Klimoski, 2007). Educational qualification and Training requirement for the job GCSE English and mathematics equivalent, level 12 and credits 2 from the access of the course and qualifying to the equivalent test that is conducted. BA honours is most preferred for the job profile or position. The training course is available and is provided to the initial teacher education or training and there are existence of several lead providers that are mainly working in partnership with the colleges and Universities across the country (Reddy, 2005).The training program is generally imparted for a period between six months to twelve months and for adopting the teaching career it is required to continue pursuing the course of training for keeping themselves update with the introduction of new ideas and methods in education and various training seminars and workshops are conducted for imparting training to the teachers (Turner, 2012). The holiday that is provided in a year is of 25 days and the permanent teachers are paid pension on monthly basis and the non teaching staff are provided pension under the pension scheme (Boyd, D., Grossman, Lankford, Loeband Wyckoff, 2006). The salary that is provided to the teachers is on the basis of their qualification and also on the basis of the experience but the salary that is provided is not less than 65000 pound. The salaries are modified and reviewed on annual basis on 1st September (Kay, 2005). C. Key issues which influence day to day work in this profession The key issues that will influence me in the day to day working in the profession and also the behaviour management in the classroom are that there I may be encountered with a radical change or modification in the behaviour from the autocratic and also punitive relationship with the students for encouraging and rewarding the behaviour(Smith and Nelson, 1994). And it has been observed that in the course of teaching I may have to use harsh language against the students and also insulting the students in the classroom. And the profession provides autonomy to the teachers and therefore a feeling and sense of satisfaction develops and the teachers feel more motivated and encouraged and feel competent and effective. The extent of autonomy changes or varies according to time. The reason for satisfaction and preferring this profession is that it provides a sense of being valued, trusted, creative, and interactive and autonomy. The challenges or issues that are required to be faced or overcome in this profession is the sense of losing control, bureaucracy develops, lack of support from the parents of the children, lack of time, the pressure for fulfilling the targets that is set and the work overload that is faced by the teachers (Nespor, 1987). D. The government policies affecting this work The government policies are required to be established and formulated in such a way that it maintains a balance between the short term requirement of the teachers inside the classroom and also emphasizing on the long term goals for establishing and developing the high quality technical force for the professionals (Mincer, 2002). For meeting the gap of the teachers it is required to comply with the long term strategies and also the commitment of the firm. The policies are required to be formulated in such a way that it addresses and draws the attention for the development of opportunities of the professional, providing adequate employment opportunity and improving the conditions and working environment of the teachers in the process of decision making. Establishing of the legal recognition and professional closure is required since the profession should not include those who have not fulfilled the criteria (Wentzel, 1998). The teacher maintains a low esteem and also maintains a highly specialized and developed knowledge and skills which influences and increases the teaching standards. The main irony of the teacher is that for the teacher every child matters a lot and it is expected that it is required to influence the attribute or the features of the young people for developing the attributes, capacity and skill for prospering and succeeding in the knowledge society and it is expected that the teachers will mitigate and resolve all the issues of the children in the classroom. The current employment of the teachers is high as with the increase in the school and also keeping in pace with the changes new teachers are recruited. Therefore the current employment opportunity of the teachers is positive in the economy (French, 1998). E. Conclusion The above points and the discussion emphasizes that it is a very suitable and preferable profession. This profession is considered as the most suitable and preferred opportunity that is provided to the successful candidates that becomes an important and the integral part of the school. The main role that is assigned and is expected to be performed in this profession is delivering an outstanding and proper learning and teaching opportunity to the children. The responsibility of the teachers are associated or related with understanding the learning of the young children that are committed in providing a good career and success to the children. Proper and efficient teacher is required to be recruited for developing the confidence and achieving the potential of the children. To be successful in this profession I am expected to behave and act responsibly, undergoing progress and development, attaining the potential and achieving the results. It is due to the integrity and culture in the working environment which has encouraged and motivated me to pursue the career of a reception teacher after graduation.
