The assistants should understand that learning is a process. They should not use all their knowledge and strength in teaching the children. If they are coaching different young writers, they should allow them understand the concepts as per their individual abilities. They should not generalize the children’s abilities. A child could understand the reading and drawing but later becomes a slow learner in writing skills. On the other hand, children could become good writers but fail to understand simple drawing skills.Lastly, it is important to know that appreciating the efforts of children increases their understanding abilities. Regardless of what they have written, children accept appreciations as a sign of the job well-done (Reading Rockets, 2014). Through this, they become proud of what they have done and, therefore, put more efforts to achieve better results.As a teacher, one learns a lot from how to encourage young writers. First, children should not be limited to the writing materials. They should be given enough writing materials to encourage them to do more of writing and drawing. They should be encouraged to use pencils and markers since, out of these objects, they become more creative.
