Apply basic scientific principles and techniques in mechanical engineering situations Student Name Tutor name Date Scientific principles refers to the use of the rule of law in a complex system to find solutions to questions of ‘why’ and ‘how’ various phenomena about the abstract world take place (Rao, 2003)…

Introduction

Mechanics are based on a few laws of nature which are evident without proof or argument. Mechanics is a highly developed branch of physics which is tasked with the determination and description of the motion of bodies and the investigation of the forces that are associated with the motion (Gross, et al. 2009). Suspension system The suspension system of a car is a collection of important systems that are located on the lower part of the car and are part of the chassis. These include the frame, suspension system, steering system and tires and wheels. The suspension of a car is mainly composed of three systems namely springs, dampers and anti-sway bars. Springs are based on four designs: coil springs which are the most common and are made of a heavy-duty bar that is coiled around an axis. They compress and expand when a force is applied on them to absorb the motion of the wheels; leaf springs which are made up of several layers of metal that are bound together to perform as a single unit. They absorb shock in trucks and heavy-duty automobiles to reduce the force exerted on the wheels; torsion bars which are made of a steel bar that is coiled; and air springs which are made up of a cylindrical chamber of air placed between the wheel and the body of the car. ...

Application of Enginerring Principles
For example, in the case of steel reinforced steel bars, the steel has a greater tensile strength and being stronger can bear larger loads than what concrete could otherwise bear. Moreover, the steel in question tends to deform as much as the concrete which helps it to bear greater loads too. Another reason for composite cylinders being better at load bearing is because the constituent materials…
Advanced manufacturing techniques and the advent of nanotechnology
Nanostructural elements are explained, with possible applications not only in the production process of physical goods, but at other phases of manufacturing, including assistance with environmental requirements due to efficiency. Nanotech has the potential for faster, cleaner industry with more effective options for waste removal and prevention of toxic emissions. Three tasks are discussed, with…
Production Management Principles
The construction process is to take place in a college that is also near a rural village. The project will therefore have both disruptive and beneficial effects on the community. This section provides the corrective measures and methods that should be put in place, where feasible, to minimize the amount of the resulting disruption. Generally, the company has set construction practices that take…
Framing Construction Techniques
The frames are also reinforced by the use of diagonal braces as well as with the use of rigid panels. Framing construction allows the builders to cover up large areas at minimal expense while also achieving a number of different architectural styles. The construction industry has employed a number of standards in order to ensure that materials, dimensions and construction techniques are…
New Scientific Discovery
The ultimate goal of 4G technology is to increase wireless, long range and high speed signal transmission (Berndt, 2008). I am going to focus on the 4G technology. 4G Technology 4G which is a short form of Fourth (4th) Generation Technology, this is basically the extension of 3G technology but with more bandwidth and services offers in the 3G mobile. It is a successor to the 2G and 3G…
Electrical Principles
The SI unit of current is Amperes (A) or coulombs-per-second. Materials and Equipment: bar magnet, plotting compasses, paperclips or dressmaker’s pins. Procedure Take a strong bar magnet and place it on an OHP. Then sprinkle dressmaker’s pins or paperclips. Record what happens. Plotting compasses were scattered around a magnet, then observe what happens. Observations It was observed that the…
Aircraft System Principles and Applications
Before going into the details of how air properties affect the flight of a plane, one must have deep insight into the correlation of air properties. Variation in air pressure directly affects the density of air if the temperature is kept constant. Both the pressure and the density are directly proportional to each other and if pressure decreases at a given temperature, density of air also…
