Nanowire Battery

The basic electrodes in a lithium ion battery are modified by nanotechnology to improve the performance. This article intends to discuss the objectives of the nanowire battery technology. The basic features and the technology behind these batteries are discussed along with their advantages. Finally, the challenges and applications of Nano wire batteries are presented. Introduction The speed of operation of the present generation computers, other electronic gadgets and even electric cars are increasing at an exponential rate. This presents a demand for equivalent high capacity batteries to power them with high charging and discharging rate. The batteries that power the high speed devices like laptops, mobile phones, video games and even electric cars lack these characteristics due to chemical constraints. The traditional Lithium-ion batteries transfer lithium ions from carbon anode to a metal oxide cathode. As the number of lithium ion held by one carbon ion is only one, the charge density in these batteries is low. On the other hand, the Silicon anode has the capability to hold 4.4 lithium ions in one silicon atom. Scientists at the Stanford university (Chan. C.K. , Zhang. X. F. & Cui Y. , 2008) have explored the use of Silicon and Germanium nanowires for improved battery energy. ...

Piezoelectric electronic circuit (Rectification with an inductor and Buck DC-DC converter circuit)
(Diamond, 2009) Much of its role in alternative energy and applications but first, what is piezoelectricity or, the piezoelectric effect? Wayne Tomasi (2004) defines the piezoelectric effect as generating electrical oscillations as varying mechanical stresses—either as, compression, tension, torsion or shearing, is applied across a crystal lattice structure (i.e. quartz, Rochelle salts, tourmaline, etc.) and vice versa. With this, ambient vibrations in and around systems which typically, are lost energy, can be captured and converted to usable energy, available for consumption—the primary…

Charging of a 6-12V lead acid battery through the use of a solar panel
Currently, man used the fullest potential of the solar system that able the man to use it as the source of renewable energy research. The project that includes in this research used the solar power as the source of energy for the circuit. This study used a solar cell battery charger, which is an instrument that sum up all the energy in a rechargeable battery by driving an electric current on it. There are given two tasks that need to take note in commonly using lead-acid based battery charges. First, it is task to fully pay attention for the self-discharge, frequently faster as practical in…

Electrical Engineering in Telecommunications
The next step is for telecommunication engineers to outline a transmission and reception of the transmitted information. In designing the transmitters and receivers, the engineers have to factor in the power consumption especially of the transmitters since a weak signal will due to low or insufficient power will be susceptible to corruption by noise so that the sent information is received as jumbled or incoherent. Looked at simplistically, two telephone handsets connected together need a battery in between to provide the electrical signal to transmit voice signals as depicted below; d1 d2…

Mobile Phone Battery Wirless Charger
The wireless power enables the electrical energy to be transmitted from the source of power to an electrical load. The system operates without connecting wires. The system is important because it is used in places where interconnecting wires are impossible, inconvenient, or hazardous. A mobile Phone Battery wireless charger is a system that charges mobile phone battery using a wireless charger. The idea behind wireless charging is to plop the device on the shelf and have it charged. The technology replaces cable wiring and standardize on a single interface. Additionally, the interface will be…

case study project for Engineering Graphics & Design
The study involved a case where energy storage system can detect the frequency of the power output, and controls this frequency automatically to arrive at the required frequency of the power output. The study assumes an introduction of wind power generation at 1/10 of the power system capacity, and investigates the use of energy storage using a dead band control, contrary to using a high-pass filter type of control. The proposed approach seeks to regulate frequency deviations resulting from power output fluctuations, as well as the respective fluctuations related to the system load. The study…
