Introduction

The research had been done through; questionnaires, interviews and document review. It discusses hydro electric power production systems, wind turbine generators, coal as a source of energy, solar energy and geothermal sources of energy. Government is seen to play a key role in the progress of these processes. It is seen that the government has affirm stand as pertains to the different kinds of power generation methods. Its support of hydro power systems is evident from the percentage of hydro power generated and connected to the national grid system. This report will look at the methodology used in collecting data, the results and carry out a discussion from which a conclusion and appropriate recommendations will be made (Patton, 2002). Introduction This is a report of research on the power production in Waikato. Research was done to compare the methods of power generation in Waikato; hydroelectric power and solar power. ...

Renewable Energy
Renewable energy is good because it is non-polluting. In addition, of course as the name tells us it is renewable and does not use resources that can never be replaced. 2But there are other advantages to using renewable sources of energy. The benefits of renewable energy extend to stimulating the economy and creating job opportunities. The money that is invested in renewable energy is typically…
Renewable and Solar Power in the UK
The scope for using solar power based technologies in the UK The UK possesses 0.3% of global oil reserves. A peak for oil production in the UK occurred in 1999, and by 2010, this tailed off by 54% (Busby, 2010). There are indications however, that there could be an estimated 25 billion barrels of oil remaining in British waters (BBC News, 2010). Tapping into these reserves however, would require a…
Solar Energy Power (Photovoltaic Systems)
(Daniels 1971: 490) Meanwhile in 1973 another researcher, George O.G. Lof said that the man has to find other energy sources as the use of fossil fuel is unsustainable. For him, the development of technology that captures solar power is much more important. He expounds: The raw energy, in the form of electromagnetic radiation, reaches the earth’s atmosphere at a rate of 170 trillion kilowatts.…
Wind power for water desalination including a comparison with solar power desalination
Sew water desalination through the renewable energy resources can solve the problem. Wind energy has the most potential in the coastal regions of the world due to high availability of wind. Wind desalination utilized the RO, MVC and ED techniques to desalinate the sea water. RO method of desalination is considered the most efficient method of desalination. Wind desalination has many advantages…
Solar and Renewable Power in the UK
By the year 2001, one can see a slight change in the dependence on various sources. For example, use of petroleum fell by 5%, and that of coal fell by 14%. However, the use of natural gas increased to 40% and of primary electricity rose by 1%. Also, 1% of the total energy came from renewable sources and waste (ibid). Energy consumption by fuel 1990-2001 Percentage of energy from different sources…
Maximizing Solar Power: Solar Thermal Energy for Domestic Use in New Zealand
According to the resources found for this study, energy efficiency of solar thermal power parallels that of the energy efficiency of fossil fuels, hence it is a viable alternative for electricity generation. Moreover, since the solar power is natural, it has no hazardous by-product and it is a renewable resource so it can be used indefinitely. This research has discovered that one reason for the…
Solar Powered Fridge Technical Report
However majority of the mankind which lives in the developing or third world countries has just recently woken up to the benefits of refrigeration. As these countries continue to grow rapidly, their people will require refrigeration in some form or other. Refrigeration is required not only for keeping food fresh but is also needed for transportation of perishable products like meat, milk etc…
