Introduction

Glass fibers are more effective in achieving shear strengthening. Various methods can be used in the reinforcement of polymers using carbon or glass fibers. Some of the methods include curing pressure increase and filler incorporation and vacuum infusion. This paper outlines a comparison among the various rigidising methods using reinforced material to increase the general strength of the materials. The electrical conductivity of the materials has also been analyzed [8]. Curing pressure increase and filler incorporation This ridigising method enhances the through-thickness thermal conductivity of carbon fiber polymer-matrix. This method is used to increase heat dissipation by enhancing the low through-thickness thermal conductivity of carbon fiber polymers. The conductivity is normally raised by 60 percent by enhancing the curing pressure from 0.1 to 2.0 MPa and almost by 35 percent by incorporation of a filler. This was reported in an experiment conducted at Composite Materials Research Laboratory in the University of Buffalo [4]. The experiments were conducted to determine the effect of curing pressure and filler incorporation on the mechanical and conductivity properties on a material. The mechanical test was conducted on a 15-lamina crossply composite plate under flexure using a hydraulic mechanical testing procedure. ...

Characterisation material physical properties of porous materials
According to this theory, three different kinds of waves propagate within the porous material. One is the compression wave propagating in the fluid phase, the second is the compression wave travelling in the solid phase, and the third is the shear wave propagating in the solid phase (Pan & Jackson). The Biot model for predicting sound propagation in porous materials is based on five material…
Material Science: Road Tires
Road wheels are designed to operate in a variety of environments as they run on dry, muddy, and water-logged paths. The tires are also designed to run on smooth and rough terrains. The material that is used for making road tires should hence be elastic, wear resistant, durable, strong, and resistant to oxidation and corrosion. This paper discusses the materials and processes used in the making of…
Concrete as a Building Material: Issues and Practiced Solutions
Water is essential component of concrete because it gives the concrete the required fluidity which helps in pouring concrete in the various forms of constructional shapes and for fabricating structural members of various sizes, more importantly water is required for the hydration of cement. The cement and thus the concrete gets the desired strength after the process of hydration in which the…
Material Failure and Embodied Energy
TASK 1 The bending of an umbrella when wind blows or the breaking of a bags handle, even the collapsing of mega structures like bridges and buildings are some prime examples of structural failure. Structure failure in basic terms can be defined as the destruction or damage of a structure when it is unable to support its designated load any further. Once the structure looses it ability to carry…
Engineering - Jute Material
The graph that is generated by jute is particularly characteristic of most composite and building material. From the graph, we can learn several facts about the jute that is put under the impact test. Jute occurs as a long, soft and shiny natural vegetable fibre and thus it has to be pre-processed before it is used in any form of construction. The fibre is woven to form laminates, which can be…
Chemical and Material Engineering
The process of analyzing the mechanical qualities of nc by researchers is gradual since this process is experiencing various obstacles. Manufacture of the nc materials is one of the Chief impediments of the experimental evaluations of its properties. The preparation of nc involves factors, for example, porosity, contamination and residual stress, which significantly influence its mechanical…

To make a reliable and stable structure for living and working are one of the basic necessities every human feels greatly. Civil engineers are people which make this necessity to reality. Earth quakes are one of the greatest natural disaster humans face since the formation of planet. Causalities caused by the occurrence of earth quakes look very ugly on seeing them for the first time to naked eye.…
