Summary

Fieldwork GPS report: “The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a space-based radio navigation system that is managed for the United States Government by the U.S. Air Force (USAF), which is the system operator. GPS was originally developed as a military force enhancement system, and it still continues to play this role…

Fieldwork GPS report

The first type is the Total Station, which is classic equipment and is not only a GPS system. The other two types of equipment used are the Trimble Juno SB handheld and Leica antenna. These two types of equipment are used in similar ways to position points, but the Leica antenna is more accurate and expensive. On the other hand, the Trimble is cheaper than the Leica antenna. This report will show how the devices can be used and a comparison between all three based on the results each type of equipment’s accuracy. Aim: To understand how GPS systems work by using different types of equipment, and to know which device is most accurate. List of equipment: GPS Leica antenna Total Station GPS Trimble Juno SB handheld Explanation and results of fieldwork: (Figure 1: Wild Park area from Google maps) The field work was conducted at Wild Park in Brighton (Figure 1). The first step was set two points as references by using Leica antenna GPS devices. The benefit of these two points is to make the work more accurate. The group started with using a handheld Trimble for each student. Firstly, we opened the device and added information to it. We then made a line across the valley. Finally, each student took random points to show the land in the valley. ...

A Feasibility Study of Building Structural Deformation Monitoring using Global Positioning (GPS)
To achieve their objectives through this study, the authors monitored structural deformations in one high-rise building, viz. the Twin Tower of Science and Technology Complex, and one low-rise building, viz. the Innovation Centre Building, both of which belonged to the University Technology MARA (UiTM), in Selangor, Malaysia. The authors chose high accuracy GPS (±1 mm) and total station (± 1 mm, 1”) to apply in deformation monitoring of the buildings, to improve accuracy of the survey. During the course of the study, authors identified appropriate points on the building structure, and…

Engineering - Steel Report
According to Degarmo and Black (2003, p.56), reinforced bars with high ductility and tensile strength are often preferred because they allow the materials to be rolled, drawn or made longer without breakage. Generally the tensile strength of reinforcing steel can be measured by dividing the cross sectional area of the steel tested by the stress exerted on the material. The amount of stretching force (N) needed to break the test material can then be measured and recorded. Experimental Procedure The tensile testing experiment involved calculating mechanical properties of three specimen samples…

report 1
This plot is known as the grain distribution plot and will be used for purposes of this report. More often, a relatively distributed curve shows well graded or a soil which is poorly sorted whilst an extremely steep distribution curve, a curve with steep distribution shows poor grade or sufficiently sorted soil. Objectives of the experiment This lab was developed to determine the distribution of grain size for Concrete & Asphalt materials. This is achieved by determination of the coefficient of uniformity, as well as the coefficient of curvature, . These describe general slope and shape of the…

contract adminstration report
It also explains the reasons why the employer should include them in the contract. Offsite Materials Bonds: Offsite materials include all listed items in the contract which have not been delivered to or close to the site of the project. These materials are insured by offsite material bond. Therefore, the inclusion of this bond in the contract insures the employer against the losses incurred for non delivery of materials. This problem arises when the employer has made full payment to the contractor for procumbent of materials, but the contractor has failed to deliver the materials to or…

However some technical problems such as weight of the arm and unforeseen parameters of the robot going out of the maze were encountered in execution of the project. The objective of the project is to enable a robot to look for a ball and pick it up while avoiding black lines. The goal is divided into a logical sequence that enables the robot to achieve its goal. The sequence flow is as follows. The necessary parameters for the robot are set, these include the sensors and motors that enable the robot to move. The robot then looks for a ball. It then estimates and determines the distance to the…
