Car Air Bag: Ever since the automobile industry has been active, a constant need has been felt for providing safety to the passengers. The need was felt more as the digits on the speedometer increased and subsequent threats to human safety propped up at the same…

Introduction

Often dubbed as the life savers. They have done so over period of time. In the land transport, air bag invention came about in form of a reaction to an accident. When on a routine day a veteran industrial engineer met with an accident and he decided to find the solution to it and make the road driving more secure. Prior to this, fighter jets had used similar form of material in World War 2(Toedt, Koza et al, 2005). In pursuit of his safety concerns, he came up with the idea of air bags for the passengers’ safety in case of any accident. This was year 1953 when the concept was introduced (Hutchinson, p136, 2009). Although the commercial usage and implementation was couple of years away but this was the foundation step towards the ever dependable part of almost all vehicles in years to come. Over period of time various changes have taken place in form of improvements in the structure, working and performance of the air bags. The modern air bags are more effective and reliable. In pursuit of safety for drivers and passengers, various measures were taken into consideration and the possibility of air bag was also given a thought. After its implementation, over years of research has shown that the air bags reduce the chances of serious mishap, damage to critical body parts and subsequent death by nearly 30 percent (Congress, 1997). ...

This paper will discuss a number of aspects of engineering and construction related to car safety such as car design, assembly, and equipment that eradicate or diminish car accidents. The History of Car Safety Car safety might have become a concern almost from the start of mechanized road vehicle expansion. The second artillery tractor that was powered by steam was produced by a Nicolas-Joseph…
Engineering accomplishment-Air traffic control systems
moved during the day with sufficient lighting and a clear sky. This meant that a pilot could easily see other aircrafts when taking off, landing or when on flight on the sky. Traffic avoidance was based on ‘see and be seen’ principle. This implied that aircrafts could only be flown in conditions that would easily allow them to see other aircrafts and change their flight paths to avoid others.…
Geothermal and Air Source Heat Pumps
It has become the need of the day to consider replacing the gas boilers and fossil fuel burning oil with some other heating systems. It can be done either by supplementing traditional energy generating systems with solar photovoltaic technology or super efficient solar thermal or by replacing current systems with efficient heating systems, such as, geothermal and air source heat pump (The Energy…
Air Transport Economic
There are certain factors influencing and perhaps hindering the continued growth of this air transport company. These factors include negligence of the procedural strategies in operating the daily functions. They are flexible factors that can easily be changed to turn the dwindling situation into a benefit. It can be worked out and through critical analysis of the entire organization. If the…

In fact, obesity is now considered to be an epidemic such that it has alarmed public health officials and policy makers to consider some methods to reduce the high rates of obesity (Pool, 2000). As a note, obesity is measured using the body mass index (BMI) of a person. BMI is computed by dividing the body mass (in kilograms) by the square of that person's height (in meters); hence the BMI is…
product technology : Automotive components
However, most of us do not understand the manufacturing processes and the materials used in the manufacture of some parts of an automobile. Eronen (2012, p.2) reveals that a typical automobile involves an assembling of about 15,000 parts ranging from a thin electrical wire to steel of aluminum wheels. The assembling of these components is what makes the cars we see on the roads. Automobile…
