Coconut Groove Fire Incident

This, among other design flaws and failures to take safety measures into consideration, led to the tragic incident. This paper seeks to give an in depth analysis of the events that led to the fire, and changes executed by fire and safety departments across America to avoid a repeat of the tragedy. The Cocoanut Grove Fire and Potential Causes To understand why the Cocoanut Grove fire was not easily contained, and why it claimed so many lives, it is imperative to get an idea of its original layout. This facility had three exits, on the Shawmut, Piedmont and Broadway sides (Boston Fire Historical Society, n.d). The building’s main entrance comprised of a single revolving door on the Piedmont Street side. The entrance opened into Cocoanut Grove’s lobby, while the way into the Melody Lounge, in the lower level, was through a single stairwell from the reception area. There were no other entrances or exits from this part of the Night Club. The exit to Shawmut Street was positioned centrally along the main club area’s wall. Another entrance along this wall, and bordering the performance stage was closed at all times. The third exit was on the side of the new Broadway Cocktail Lounge. This exit comprised of just one door, which unfortunately opened inward. ...

Incident of Morales video
However, the question remains: who is the one responsible for the death of Manuel Ortega? First issue questionable in the video was the hiring of the engineer Fred Martinez. He was a consultant of the competing company such that he is knowledgeable of confidential information about ChemiToil. Although it has been clarified that Fred did not sign any legal papers that restricts him from sharing secrets from ChemiToil, there is a difference between doing something illegal with doing something unethical. Incident of Morales
The researcher states that the start of the video depicts Fred being hired by Phaust which is in competition with Chemitoil and where Fred is employed previously. It is highly unethical for competing businesses to hire professionals from each other in order to gain competitive advantage over each other. fire dynamics
At 250-300 degrees room temperature, creep has little effect on the performance on the steel structure since the amount and distribution of the effects of steel remain uniform hence any deformations occur at a slow pace. As the fire crib is set to temperatures of 0.25/0.5 MegaWatt, recorded by a thermal imaging camera, creep starts to become a dominating factor (Totten, 2007). Deformation starts to occur as the vacancies in the crystal structure diffuse to the location of a dislocation hence the dislocations move faster to an adjacent slip plane. As the temperature of steel increases so does...
