INTEGRATION OF PRODUCTION AND ENVIRONMENTAL WASTE: A THEORETICAL EXPLORATION ABSTRACT: Construction productivity has always been the priority in enhancing the performance of the industry. Due to environmental concerns, recent years have shown changes in the common conception of construction…

Extract of sample

Also, separated approaches have been implemented to improve both environmental and production performance, producing only partial solutions to a problem that is integrated in nature. This research aims to integrate both production and environmental dimension of construction systems at a conceptual level using lean production. Lean production principles have been commonly used to manage production waste in manufacturing, and, recently, in construction. In this research, environmental waste will be introduced within the concept of lean. Then, the environmental waste will be linked to the production waste from the lean perspective. Finally, a theoretical discussion is provided in order to understand the importance of such integration. A conceptual management approach to address the identified environmental waste will be discussed. This theoretical research will allow the integrated management of production and environmental waste to be developed. Also, the proposed management approach will benefit practitioners by allowing them to recognise the causes of environmental waste in regards to the inefficiencies in production. ...

These techniques constitute petroleum exploration, which in turn has several definitions. In one instance, oil exploration is defined as the process of searching for oil, among other petroleum related resources like gas, in the sedimentary basins of the earth. The mentioned exploration process depends on systematic utilization of technology based methods by innovative geoscientists (Larsen et al…

Sustainability in Construction and the Integration of Building Services
It is in this context, two documents were determined to provide solutions to the built environment designs. The solutions proposed were different from one another because the first one was a proactive solution and the second one was a reactive solution to climate change. The CIBSE Briefing 8 (2003) was focused on providing new buildings and refurbishments design and operation solutions. The…

environmental report
The engineer is required to come up with various solutions to prevent or minimise environmental pollution during the construction. Without this plan, the engineered work will not only lead to the production of quality buildings or structures but will also bring a burden that other organisms have to pay. Respecting the environment is therefore a very important thing for any engineer. They have to…

Properties of Self :Compacting Concrete using waste rubber tyres as partial replacement for coarse aggregate.
They occupy space and are a bad sight. This is besides the fact that they offer perfect breeding grounds for pests (Appleby, 2004, Pg.200). Mosquitoes, rats, mice are just but a few. Some of these such as mosquitoes spread diseases such as malaria. Rice and mice is a nuisance. The accumulated heaps of tires are prone to fires. This is because rubber is a substance that can easily catch fire. Once…

Production systems
There are several factors that should be thoroughly considered by workers, managers and owners to effectively use manual assembly lines. These factors include but are not limited to the high- and medium-demand products, similar products being produced, possibility of dividing the work into segments and the impossibility of automation of tasks (Groover, 2007). There are several reasons for which…
