Unit: First audience: campus of Arizona) specifically the department of economics. I want the department of economicsto know that Gasland has more advantages than disadvantages. Am happy that (Gasland 11) is out, for more Chinese to learn through watching it. Perhaps most people thought that he was an organic farmer after manure spread which is not the case. In addition, there are false claims that fracking is related to cancer rates, because of toxic spill from coal mines and pollution and health problems which actually is not the case. Therefore, I see that Gasland will continue to bring more profits and jobs in the economy of China. I know the department is wondering about the safety of using coal in China. In regards to safety when using coal, am aware of migration of methane when coal is used for long as seen in places like Colorado, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Methane is a natural gas which migrates to aquifers when there is a combination of horizontal drilling and hydraulic fracturing. Therefore, there is a need to avoid driving down natural gas costs and pollution of environment by coal plants. The department should understand about the hydraulic fracturing or fracking. It is a method whereby the chemical fluid is added to earth to free natural gas trapped far underground. The fracking change is actually good news, because it helps in national security and boost the economy of the government. This is achieved since it reduces imports and creates more jobs in the economy and brings about new investment in China. The department confirmed that the critics given can be solved it the people take their time to understand that pollution is actually reduced because the amount of coal used in plants is reduced. This clearly shows that boost in fracking increases productivity. Any economist know that without energy China cannot grow economically, therefore, energy is a fundamental service for each and every day living. We know companies like Sinopec and Recon technology which boost the economy of China. Without fuel in the economy, it leads to poverty, although it has effect to the environment, the need of fuel is more important. Meeting the increasing requirements for energy in the entire world is hard to achieve. Therefore, there is a need for fracking even if it has environmental effects. Our choices have to weigh between environmental effects against the economic and social benefits of current supply availability. When fracking is adopted in China, the economy is transformed, it become self-sufficient than when natural gas is used and could become the biggest exporter this will automatically boost the economy of China. Economists know that a big investment is made through fracking than renewable energy. Therefore, fracking should be encouraged. The shutdown of all fracking will drastically affect the domestic and international markets. In short the oil industry should increase its plans to increase oil production with hydraulic fracturing to increase oil recovery even if it’s threatening the communities’ air and drinking water. Economists should know that the process of hydrofracking is controversial gas and oil extraction methods develop in late 1940s to have access to fossil energy deposits which are inaccessible by drilling machines. The methods actually involve smashing of the rock with a lot of water with sand and a lot of chemicals so that to bring the gas into the surface. The process involve drilling of vertical well bores into the earth, via sediment layers, the water table and other rocks to reach oil and gas. (Ralph & Peter 2012) Drilling is done in a horizontally angled and smashed with a lot of water and fracking fluid, chemicals and sand to break the rock and shale. Small explosives are used to open up the bedrock and allow the gas and oil to be removed from the rock formations. Fracking has been there for decades and the process of doing it has been varying from deep fracking to other methods. In conclusion, economists should use fracking approach but try to adopt a legitimate national policy that complete in scope and is science-based rather than focusing on short term profits. Clean energy should be increased each year to avoid methane pollution which affects the climate, Contamination of groundwater, air pollution effects, toxic chemicals, waste disposal, workplace safety, induced earthquakes and blowouts due to gas explosion. Clean energy rules should be propelled by technologies that require skilled workers to make fracking much productive in China. If the deeds of fracking do not poison the water, does not accelerate climate change, do not cause cancer to those living near the environment, then the fracking should be used to create jobs and boost the economic development. Therefore, am calling all economists to support fracking and form campaigns in China to encourage the government not to ban fracking because the long term and the short term effect of fracking in the economic are important. Off-campus audience; the environmental activists. The environmental activists doing their work outside the university, I want to inform them that a rapid increase in oil and gas removal method known as fracking is overtaking our understanding of how oil and wells effect our environment in China. Without taking take care of our environment, the booming of fracking could significantly affect water, air, wildlife and forests that even protect national park system. The effect of Gasland has been felt; there is degradation of air and water quality, injuries at parks from experience sounds and sights of industrial development, habitat fragmentation and conflicts with an amount of water needed. Moreover, the effect of the explosive of steel production in China is fresh. One of the safety measures that should be taken is recycling of water quality. When water from fracking areas are reused the risk it would create to the environment that is contaminating ground water, surface water is reduced. There is no need for boosting fracking, fracking activities naturally emit more pollutants than any other traditional gas and oil extraction methods, recently, and there is a large emission in the air because of increased ozone pollution by fracking wells. Secondly, the water quantity used in a single well requires millions of gallons of water which is a problem as experienced in Northern Shaanxi Province, which lead to water grabbing in most places. In addition, the habitat of most animals is destroyed as Southern west China, a large amount of oil and gas developments near a national park and forests destroy the ability of animals to live peacefully. Lastly, the natural experience brought by noise can affect the way people live and even the animals in wild parks and forests. Moreover, Fracking should be avoided totally, and environmental activists should try to help in doing so. When drilling is done in some sensitive areas such as watersheds it causes pollution. Therefore, anti-drillers should be encouraged because in the end good things will be achieved. Many people should be swayed away from drilling; use of natural gas should be encouraged as a source of energy in all states. People should shift production to the next level by changing their energy infrastructure and using renewable energy to bring transition to the people. In addition, most scientists had warned about global warming they are suggesting the use of renewable energy. Although, Renewable energies are inadequate to cuter for needs better to use it. The environmental activists can start calling for banning of and hammering away of fracking to sustain the climate. People should learn that the cost of environmental loss would greatly reduce the economic benefits. Environmental activists should educate people on the effects of fracking. Neighbors, friends and families should come together to ensure that they understand the risks of fracking on communities, health and water and ensure we kept our environment clean. This can be achieved by involving the government to come up with a proposal to regulate on fracking. They need to pay attention to the public demands and needs. Secondly, those people in authority like governors and regulators should stop fracking and other dangerous oil and gas drilling. Lastly, there should be a method to prove that fracking is not safe before practicing, people should the environmental activities to protest against fracking until it is done safely. There is a need for all people to learn the effects of fracking, environment activists should campaign against fracking, the chemical used during drilling, fracking, delivery and processing gas is harmful. The chemical could affect skin, eyes and other sensory organs, and the respiratory and gastrointestinal systems.in addition it can affect the brain, immune, cardiovascular systems and kidney. Heath effects from fracking are to be examined by health experts and department of health in Newyork, since large-scale drilling is happening more frequently. Any exposures to toxic chemicals cause tremendous harm to humans’ especially endocrine system when exposed to chemical. Nevertheless, all health risk experienced during fracking process take a long time to be exposure. Therefore, health experts used learn to check long term health effects. The basic thing that people should learn is that the closer you live to drilling operations, the more people are exposed to health risk. Therefore, those people who are polluting the environment should be sued for killing people through exposing them to cancer which is a deadly disease. In conclusion, am encouraging all environmental activists to fight against fracking because it causes air pollution; we all know that methane is a component of natural gas and is 25 more important in trapping heat than carbon dioxide. Secondly, it is causing water pollution; the chemicals additives used in the drilling and fracking of mud, fluids and slurries are dangerous. Last but not least the earthquakes experienced in Sichuan region in china also as a result of gas drilling. All people should be involved in the doing away with fracking for a better environment. Reflection page. Fracking refers to the method used in breaking of rocks and rock formation by putting fluid into the cracks to force them to open. Then the larger fissures allow gas and oil from where it is extracted. Although, many gas and oil wells attain economic viability due to high level of extraction, it has a greater impact of in the environment. The benefits and the potential risks of high volume hydraulic fracturing have been debate for a long time among politicians, physicians, the public and the oil industry in china. The debate is about the economic growth, ecology and public health. There is growing industrial and political interest in getting natural gas trapped but according to me environmental changes coming from fracking is more adverse. I know environmental changes occur inevitably accompanied by gas operations. In most circumstances well pads are created to help in drilling rigs and dirt roads are made to take millions of gallons of water leading to water shortages as seen in Northern parts of China, a lot of sand and fracking chemicals to the drilling site. In addition, a same amount of hydrofracking chemicals has to be used too. All these industrial activities interrupt natural environment by causing deforestation and loss of agricultural land and rising of livestock, noise pollution, bright lights, dusty clouds, air pollution from leaking of toxic gases which include: volatile organic compounds, increased smog production from truck exhaust it happens when VOCs combine with nitrogen oxides NOx, disturbance of wildlife, contamination of local springs, wells, rivers and creeks, pollution of pastures, woods and backyards, pollution of wild animals habitat, there will be loss of recreational space and clean air, leaking of the most efficient greenhouse gas that is methane and increasing the occurrence of earthquakes in the China. In conclusion, I advise China trying to meet the needs of a rising population in regarding to fuel and want to avoid over dependency on foreign energy supplies to look for safer ways of extracting fuel without harming the environment, animals and people. Therefore, natural gas should be used in instead to create jobs and be part of an energy solution so that we can reduce the risk of hydrofracking method used by many today.in addition hydrofracking has led to food to be expensive due to lose of livestock and agriculture by farmers and many chronic diseases affecting people like cancer causing disabilities.
