Recommendation 7 References List 8 1. Introduction This is a recommendation report that compares two prospective sea front or river constructions for one city with the purpose of attracting tourists. The West Pier is a well acknowledged pier in Brighton, England. It was constructed in 1866 by Birch Eugenius and has been shut and depreciating since 1975, pending renovation, although following two fires and some storms, almost nothing is left in situ (Longstaff-Tyrell 1999). West Pier was Brighton's second pier, connecting The 1823 Royal Suspension Chain Pier and was considered one of only two Grade I documented piers in the UK, apart from Clevedon Pier (Royal Town Planning Institute 1900). The necessity to restore glory has seen Brighton i360 conception. The i360 is a designed 183-metre (600 ft) watching tower constructed within the seafront of Brighton, next to the West Pier. Strategy and plan were submitted in June 2006 and were accepted by Brighton and Hove City committee on 11 October 2006 with building projected to commence in 2007. The comparison is drawn in that while Brighton and Hove's i360 seafront observing tower develops the West Pier strategies to be reassessed. 2. Background Due to adversity of weather pattern that has been limiting tourism industry or limiting tourist to particular seasons. The building of i360 would cut the barriers and allow tourism throughout the year. This would be possible due to an aerodynamic pod, heated in winter, air-conditioned in the summer and accommodating more than 200 persons at a time. This is an opportunity to allow growth in Brighton and Hove after the fall of West Pier (Best 1974). Located on the edge of the Grade II* Regency Square, this structure will make an optimistic benefit to the Regency Square Conservation region, adding optical interest and improving its appearance and character. At the base of the pier will be a shop and hospitality structure and a restaurant and cafe serving for up to 400 persons. Intended to use as little power as necessary over its existence, the Brighton i360 is not merely a great experience for tourists, but will avail social and ecological benefits to Brighton & Hove. The observation tower will be a stylish 21st century landmark and a magnificent complement to the skyline (Leo 2013). 3.2. The New Pier English Heritage depicted Brighton's West Pier as the premium enjoyment pier ever constructed, and it was the initial pier in the state to be appended a Grade 1 listing (Best 1974). The i360 is set to restore parts of the initial pier to their past glory, comprising the Victorian tollbooths (Steves 2010). Sections of the cast iron sustaining structure will be reutilized in the fresh visitor centre and an exposition will allow visitors to discover about the pier's record. Replacing the West Pier that was constructed in 1866 and got closed due to poor conditions; caused by two fires and continuous storms, would be the function of i360 (Easdown 2009). Sustainability By comparison, the power usage for a passenger using a typical five-mile diesel-engine motor vehicle ride, equal to a 15-minute ride, is approximate 3 kilowatt-hours of electrical energy. The power utility for the i360 is sustainable. The utilization for each tourist is low and since it is entirely motorized by electricity all procedure to function it will eventually come from completely renewable materials, as these increasingly develop (Blue 2013b). 6. Conclusion The process of constructing i360 Brighton pie is sustainable and recommendable since the benefits expected from tourists would boost the area economy. 7.
