Explain and evaluate the boundary-less career concept and examine the implications for your own career development Career development is not an easy job to start with. There are a lot of hurdles that stand in the way of success for individuals so that they could best achieve their mission and vision set in the beginning. The goals should always be in line with the set aims and objectives and for all these things to take place; it is of paramount importance to plan accordingly so that a proactive look and feel could be awarded to the aspect of career development and indeed management. As a business student, I feel that the world of business offers me exciting opportunities. What I really mean by the boundary-less career regimes lies in the fact that business is on the upward move. It is always growing and expanding and not being stagnant at any point in time. For me to look up to the future and visualize myself standing with the top management gurus, I feel pride in stating that I can relate with what they do, work and feel like. I can relate with their respective concepts of career development and the manner in which they have taken an upward growth path. I believe that I can always contribute in a better manner towards the society if I work in a business organization because this is something that comes from within – it is naturally inclined for me to act, think and feel business-mindedly. The implications that stand in the way of my career development include my understanding related with the niche segments of the business and comprehension which I can attain in the wake of finding out more and more as to what exactly is happening in the local terrains and on the global front. The boundary-less career concept of business offers me a range of options to start with. I could look at the retailing side of business where channel members could mean significance for my trade. I could look at the middle management regimes and thus present myself in line with the changing market dynamics. I can offer my services in the client relationship side which offers me to interact with all sorts of customers and clients and thus open my sense of understanding with different people almost on a daily basis. I could opt for the sales management areas and thus expand my sales vision as well as the manner under which I could get to know what is happening at the wholesalers’ ends and as to how the different chain levels interact with each other whilst setting their own standards along the line. Public relations and event management is another side of the business which I could go for and thus develop my career whilst interacting with the people who are more or less of my own business domains. This will introduce me to people who have similar interests as well as open avenues of expansion as far as my career growth is concerned. Therefore, one can easily see that the boundary-less career that I have chosen for myself offers me so many opportunities in different areas that I can literally feel what is coming towards me in the future and it asks of me to plan for my future from the present. Career development task is a difficult proposition – one that needs to be seen and understood in the proper contexts before deliberating upon the very same. It also means that organizations need to decipher the sentiments, demands and even the basic requirements of future employees like me have. More than anything else, this is a symbiotic relationship, one that benefits both the parties and hence focus should be on the linkage in a broad perspective rather than the one which only discusses of the gains towards the organization’s account and forgets the one that lies on my part as an employee or worker. After all, it is a fundamental right of an employee to ask for proper compensation when he delivers his best in the workplace and thus this symbiotic relationship emphasizes the aspect which balances the two of them on a common platform. Organizations therefore need to think from the longer term standpoint and devise on particular methodologies which ask for providing more and more gains in terms of bonuses, compensations, incentives and rewards to their employees. The upward trend in the field of career development and indeed management will continue to progress and with the passage of more time, we are surely going to witness drastic changes in the manner in which employees would be able to develop and properly manage their professions, their jobs and indeed their own selves. Hence it is the duty of the organizations to understand the desires and wants of their employees and in return the employees must make sure they give in their best no matter how trying or tough the circumstances are, say at a given point in time. For a business student like me, it is all the more pertinent to negotiate with the business entities beforehand so that they could understand my skills and abilities and offer me the right returns for my services towards their different processes, activities and tasks. I, as a business student, am of the view that my role in the business enterprise must be such that I could give the society its due. This is because each member of the business fraternity has to play his due role at highlighting the benefits the society can extract from the business regimes and vice versa. On the same token, I need to develop my career in such a manner that the boundary-less career aspect related with business benefits my growth pattern nonetheless. Thus there has to be a two-way mechanism in place for both the business entity and my personality to get the dividends for the investment thus made. It is significant that the boundary-less career concept is manifested into my career growth pattern and I receive the returns of my career choice which I made at the time of getting admission in University of London.
