Illegal Immigrants Illegal immigration is an aspect which has been opposed by many people because of the problems that these illegal immigrants bring along with them. During the course of history it has been seen that these illegal immigrants have been granted amnesty many times so that they can become legal. Similarly in the government of Barack Obama an amnesty program is being proposed which would legalize 12 million illegal immigrants. A question now arises as to if these amnesty programs are really beneficial for the United States or not.

In my belief amnesty programs are providing a way through which these immigrants can find a way to boost the economy of the United States. Amnesty for the illegal immigrants would help to provide them with a legal status and ensure that these illegal immigrants do not commit crimes as they usually do. Most of the illegal immigrants get a job at lower wages because they are not legal in the United States of America. It is for this reason that employers take benefit of their status and hire them with lower wages.

These lower wages can also be counted as an illegal act and by providing these illegal immigrants amnesty such crimes can be avoided. Moreover many illegal immigrants do not fall for these low wage jobs but rather start doing crimes from where they can earn more. Thus these amnesty programs would help these illegal immigrants and the authorities to decrease the level of crimes (Duignan 2004; Army War College & Brown 2007). A study found that providing amnesty to these illegal immigrants would help to boost the American economy by creating jobs and increasing the wages of the workers.

Moreover it concluded that the Gross Domestic Product of the United States could be increased by $1.5 trillion in the next ten years if these illegal immigrants were legalized. Moreover another research from Financial Times showed that immigrants are more interested towards starting a new business than the natives of America. This entrepreneurship can help the country to boost its economy and increase the number of jobs in the country. Thus it can be said that amnesty programs would be really helpful to boost the economy of United States (Riley 2010).

Similarly the illegal immigrants would be able to come out of the shadows and learn English. The culture of United States would be promoted if these illegal immigrants are legalized. Moreover these immigrants can also be helpful to the authorities to provide them with ways through which they enter the territory of the United States. Altogether these immigrants can help in decreasing the number of illegal immigrants entering the country these days. I believe that the amnesty programs should be promoted so that all the problems related to these illegal immigrants are ended.

The crime rate will decrease, the economy will improve and the number of illegal immigrants would decrease if the amnesty program is supported.ReferencesStudy Says Granting Amnesty to Illegal Immigrants Would Boost Economy.
