Her writing style is informal and engaging enough to connect with the most scared and insecure writers. She uses language that speaks to common students who are apprehensive about writing. She does not talk down to them, however, and instead, she insists that like her, she also writes first drafts as a “child's draft” (4). She also engages her audience by emphasizing that she, and the rest of the writing world, even experts, also suffers from the anxiety of writing the first draft.

She stabs at the essence of “universality” of emotions and experiences.
